Default A good hidden antenna for a car that's been shaved.

I shaved the antenna on my car and I purchased a internal antenna from a company called Hotronics. The thing is it doesn't get hardly any reception. A few FM stations and no AM stations. If anyone has one that works good could you please let me know what it is.

i don't think they make one that you'll be completely happy with. I have one and it sometimes works good, but often not.

I just removed the retractable part off of the stock antenna and hooked it back up and custom fit it in the trunk. Still works. You can get almost 100% reception if you solder a stereo antenna wire to the gold metal part of the stock antenna assembly and run the wires around/inside your trunk panels

I went to the local honda dealership and they said that the accord antenna wouldn't work because it goes thru the glass. My civic doesn't have a spot to connect the internal antenna to so I can't use that idea. I guess I'll try the other idea about the trunk.

Here you go.......

my shaved antenna

Metra windshield antenna

I originally had this sitting inside my dash hidden away behind the stereo. Reception was so weak because of being near metal objects and no clear signal path to the sky, so I relocated it onto my windshield (how they are originally designed to be run). My reception is now as good as factory, maybe even slightly better. It is also self-amplified and has a little red LED on it. This is the best way to duplicate factory level reception to my knowledge.

Best part about it is that from the exterior, the antenna cannot be seen due to the angle and curvature of where it's mounted. Can you see it?.........

How does the Metra antenna wire up to the car's stereo plug? Do you need extra wires or need to custom anything?
