A-NR's Post about making headers

My view is, if people want it, you make. That is a business. You can't make crap that you like and expect everyone else to buy it just because you like it.

Big deal, so he doesn't have a header that clears a/c.

If people wanted a purple header with yellow dots would expect him to make them?
If they feel there's enough business with the header there making then good for them. Its his business not yours, let him run it how he likes.

thats like whining about a 4.929 final drive making my gas mileage worse.
most people who go after headers and performance like this give up a few luxuries in turn for performance.

wah wah they dont make one to fit ac, then go buy a jdm 4-1 or dc or something else that fits, they offered a header with THESE PARTICULAR circumstances, just cuz they dont fit every need YOU want doesnt mean they are a bad company.
how u gonna recommend against a company because there part doesnt fulfill your every wish? most of the people i know who would go after a header like that, have ac removed anyway.

not everybody needs ac. ever think of the implications for this on a race car?

This post is stupid. You said it your self. If people want it, you make it. Well guess what. There are people that want an all out performance header that dont care about AC. This is for them. There are a ton of headers that will clear AC. Go buy one of those and quit b!tching

They love being above 5500 rpm. They dont hurt low-end, just shine up high.

Nice worms! Makes more sense than having all that **** hanging down below the engine IMHO...

Just curious B19CivicHB, what set up are you running? Did the header make a dramatic difference in performance? And how does your exhaust meet up to the header?

Hrm... I wouldn't bet on that.

In nearly all non-turbo header designs, there is an intent to keep the length of each tube identical. That's what they have done here. There is a great deal of science around proper header design, but like most other engine design choices - header design is a matter of compromise[s]. In this case, you lose your A/C.

Sure, the length of the tubes and diameter of the tubes as well as the collector can be varied to optimize torque and HP at different RPM ranges, but NO header design works equally well in ALL RPM ranges. That's why Honda doesn't put collector-style tube headers on their factory cars, certain ITR's excepted. They use a Tri-Y design which is MUCH better for low-end power.

Just looking at this collector-style racing pipe with its matched primary lengths and so forth, and knowing what I know about headers with collectors, I would say the lower-end would have to suffer somewhat. Guess we'll find out when the dyno charts come out. Maybe they've pre-empted the laws of physics somehow, but I doubt it...

The header on the blue car is another AN-R design. It comes in either standard or side discharge (which is cool on racecars with tube frames and so forth).

The one on the blue car would be considered the 'standard' AN-R header most ppl would buy; B-series, H-series, D-series. The one with the ming worms is for B-series engines only in an EG/DC/EF chassis...

hey B19 civic, you gotta post some READABLE dyno sheets for the header you have. i garauntee that AN-R will have some orders put in once the dyno is posted. i myself am interested in this header, just want some more info on in.

oh, and **** A/C!

Hahaha, true, let me correct myself. There isnt a noticeable lack of power down low, but they shine on the top-end.

Still waiting on the dyno. bottom end is 12.5:1 JE pistons, eagle rods, .020 over, balanced, Waiting on a HondaSaver built head, then off to the dyno. Ill be sure to post it up, no worries there

Oh and the "standard" version does fit with b-series in my EH2. Definately had to take out the AC, but it fits fine now

Since the header does not come with a flange at the collector, i had an exhaust shop weld a flex pipe onto it, then clamp up the rest of the custom exhaust system. Loud, but flows like a ****
