How accurate do you guys get on valve adjustments?
..for the B18c.
Do you do the .007 or .008 on the exhaust valves?
And do you do .006 or .007 on the intake valves?
I'm basically asking, which one do you lean more towards? The smaller gap or larger gap?
And which measurement is "better" in 100% acuracy? The smaller gap?
(yah.. stupid question, but please answer it..)

I also use the tighter adjustment. Basically you make sure the 0.006 feeler gauge slides in the gap but not the 0.007 feeler gauge.
Using feeler gauge cannot garanty a precise adjustment of the gap. All you know is that the gap is between the feeler gauge sliding in and the one not sliding in. If you make the adjustment so that the higher feeler gauge (0.007 or 0.008)slides in then the gap is actually out of spec range(larger then 0.007 or 0.008).

I'm accurate in the beginnnig, but as my back begins to freeze up I just want to finish the freaking job. Valve adjustments are a pain in the azz! There should be some sort of device that you could just hook up and it would loosen the locknut, adjust the valve, and most importantly tighten the locknut with out the valve screw moving. The little Honda tool sucks.

I need that snap on tool

Word to the back problems!!!!!!!!!
how about honda making hydrolic lifters so we never have to adjust the shitzzzzzzzzzz
I perfectly happy with solid lifters that are easy to adjust (ala Honda B series motors).

Anybody use these Harbor Freight adjustment tools?
edit: yes I know I have oil on my timing belt. I happened to brush my hand over it by accident and I did clean it off afterward.

...I've used both, and you can't beat the Harbor Frieght valve tools for the buck
... only now I have three valve tools out of the set of four that I don't use...

Sorry to get OT, but how often are you guys adjusting your valves? I had to get mind adjusted afer 17,000miles. Is that normal? As well, is it covered under warranty?
I don't think it can hurt to adjust valves anytime in an engines life... as long as you do it right.
I believe Honda recomends a valve adjustment for dohc vtec engines at 30k.
I did this one at 13k miles..

What are some symptoms to look for if your valves need adjusting?

If the valve lash is really loose, you will hear valve "chatter". Keep in mind ITR engines are a little noisier than most motors to begin with.

and the sounds fades away when the engine get warmer.
