I think anyone who is shelling out that kind of money would head straight for Hytech, SMSP, or another custom solution rather than a company like Comptech.

there's was the huge thread on it a while ago and then nothing.
for my confusion and procrastination towards writing this damn paper for a class.

Haha that's funny.
I'd rather go with the real header builders like SMSP and HyTech. Paying $1250 for an immitation is steep. I can't believe they would charge that much seeing as how they needed to spend basically no money on R&D.

I also would rather buy a real smsp or hytech header.
Wow, they cost $1250?
For that much money, no, I would buy a Hytech.
If the Comptech were, say, half that I would buy it.
Either way it's moot as far as I'm concerned. I'd never pay $1000+ for a part of my car that stands a good chance of being flattened on a speedbump.
Unrelated question: Does SMS make stainless headers?

if what you guys are stating is true about comptech, it's quite sad for them--but as the old agage goes, is that sometimes imitation is the highest form of flattery. they're taking a design that is proven. but nonetheless, they didn't give credit where credit was due. and for that...
I think there is a slight problem,
well I have a slight problem,
with Comptech.
Because they have a huge budget for advertising, they will see a lot of sales to ITR/Teg/Hybrid owners that do not know about Hytech products.
that sucks.
but what can ya do.... besides badmouth that comptech header , uh, I mean "educate" people about its roots.

I've been thinking about getting one myself.
If the Hytech and the SMSP are so good, and this is a copy and cost's less then I say that's a good deal for the buyer. If Comptech can make it cheaper then so can John - this then proves that John must be ripping people off.
I remember too when all the Hytech guys were dumping on SMSP for ripping off Johns original design - so I have to laugh now that Daves headers are generally agreed to be Kosher.
The other problem I have is that there is a whole world out there that's seen every feature of this sort of header for a long time - and nobody is upset about the fact that John isn't the actual intellectual originator of any of the features.
As an example of what the world is really like, you should be aware that John bought a Mugen 4-1 from King Motorsports for the purpose of testing against it. If what Comptech did is such an outrage, why isn't that an outrage. Oh, and Comptech tested against a Mugen 4-1 way back when too.
Scott, who thinks Comptech is no better or worse in this regard than any other for profit enterprise I've ever seen....and I personally don't have anything against profitable business operations....

Nice points - I'm surprised to see that no one has mentioned that HYTECH'S EXHAUST IS A BLATANT RIP OFF OF MUGEN'S DESIGN (I.E. TWIN LOOP)
What goes around comes around.
Saw the header in person at the VIR World Challenge Race. Guy from CA driving the red ITR (old DC Sports ITR) sponsored by Comptech had it. Looked very nice! No comments other than that.
