Default New Comptech Header

I was at IAS this past weekend and when I stopped off at Comptech, these looked oddly similiar to Hytech. Am I imagining things?

It is a copy...John is currently speaking with his lawyer as he currently has patents pending for various items on the header.

there is really only so many ways to bent tube to make it fit under there....without measureing all the tube lenghts and diameters, it seems it would be hard to pass anysort of judgement as to weather or not it is copyed ot not..just my laymens opinion...

That's a copy? LOL with no anti-reversion chambers?!?!? Yeah, nice copy

Sorry guys, but all that looks like to me is a long primary 4-2-1 header with comptech's usual stepped design. They've been using that design for many, many years. John really seems petty with this lawsuit BS if it's true, **** he's using technology others developed in the 60s/70s.

i was gonna toss in the fact Nascar teams have used this technology for years....but bringing up any domestic facts are generally fruitless in this forum.

A header is a header. How can you patent it? I mean there are no anti-reversion chambers on the Comptech piece which is really the only distinguishing factor on the Hytech piece. He'll have a hard time fighting that one.

Any idea on the projected price on the Comptech piece?? I bet you it's waaaaay cheaper than $1300 USD.

You have no clue as to what your talking about. My car sat at Comptech for a week while they tested their new "prototype" header vs. JDM itr vs. HyTech and the prototype that I saw looked nothing like this production piece that they unveiled at IAS, the prototype looked like their street header with some larger tubing and the primaries that were only ~1-2" longer than their street header.

My guess is, if it is ever released.. it'll be in the $700-800.00 range, and it'll take away from some business of SMSP and HyTech.

Good thing for the people who want a nice header.
Bad thing for Dave Stadulis and John @ HyTech.

It seriously sucks that this happens, but business is business.

(PS- I'll still buy SMSP regardless. Help the little guys out, make 'em big.)

I knew there had to be some reason that they were doing all of that work for you at such a low cost...

Comptech licks *****. Even if they only used the general idea and the dimensions and specs are different, I still don't like them. The Icebox's inferior build quality (compared to stock) is reason enough for me to give them a and a .

Comptech has supposedly had a header like this in the design stages for some time...I remember hearing about it from Comptech 1.5yrs ago.

Why not make a post on the Comptech board and see what they have to say?

They said that the header was going to be 6-700 dollars. True...they even said that it is a lot like the HyTech...but it doesn't have the reversion chambers that the HyTech does. They said that in their dyno tests that the reversion chambers didn't do all that much for the header...so yeah it may look the same but the Comptech guy said that it was significantly different. Piping diameter and runner length are still different than the HyTech as well. But the piping layout and design is exactly the same...

Compared to the stock airbox, the build quality is absolute ****. The two litttle brackets it uses for mounting are not nearly as supportive as stock, the lid has a flimsy snap-on design instead of screws, and it has a cheesy, ghetto looking "Comptech Sport" logo molded onto the lid. But hey, at least it is good for 3-4 whp over the stock setup.
