Water leak EK hatch
Does anyone else have a problem with water leaking on the driver side floor near the kick panel? I traced it down to what I thought was the windshield, a while back. Sure enough the windshield was leaking. (It's PPG, not OEM install) Well finally, my stickers were due, and I went to get a new windshield. The guy told me something about the previous installer not using enough/any primer on that side, which isn't good. He also told me sometimes if the car's been in an accident and the pillar isn't straight, etc, it could leak.. anyway while putting in the windshield, I called him, asked hi mthe condition of the pillar, etc, he said everything looked ok...he even put extra glue in there (which I kinda dislike seeing a little too much on the inside) Well anyway, it rained here for the last two weeks, and what do you know...the carpet is getting wet AGAIN! What other possibilities could cause this leak? From another spot? I haven't pulled the kick panel cover and got out the garden hose to test....anyone????????????
Ha! My hatch was leaking too...It was the taillights, both of them at that. So I took out the taills and used some black RTV gasket adhesive and relined the inside and outside of the foam gasket that each tail has. I let it dry before putting it back in. Seems those foam gaskets just thin out after a while. Anyway, after the rain we just got (10 days of it), all is dry... just havin' problem with the front....
I'll be checking this too. I hadn't driven my hatch for several days, then blam I drive it to work, only to be accompanied by "Sloshing" sounds while cornering...
just a shot in the dark but try to tihgten the screws on the anttana up this fixed the problem on my EF civic. Do you have a b20 in your ek if so im me your set up i am very intrested in asking a few questions on this swap as i soon will be doing this.
I too had the rear tailight leak...used some adhesive on both side of the foam and it worked like a charm.
I also have my passenger carpet getting wet. It's also wet up underneath the firewall mat, but only about halfway up. I can't find any firewall holes that it would be coming in through though.
I have a feeling it might be one of those black rubber plug things. If it was from the windshield, the firewall mat would be wet on the inside up to the top...but it's not.
Wierd problem...it's kinda musky smelling too

seiorously try this where is the antanna at it is at thew top ov the piller and the piller is hollow and comes out in the kick pannel. It sucked in my ef hatch water would sit some where up in the dash untill i took off and come out on my foot soaking shoe and sock tighened the screws and then it never happen again. If you have tried this try going to the car wash and let a freind wash the car around the drivers piller and look for a sorce of the leak but i am going to say it sounds like a loose screw on the antanna to me
Yup...I had the taillight leak, fixed that...but I still get a good amount of wetness about halfway up the firewall mat and on the passenger carpet.
Wow! I'm not alone.
'96 hatch, water leak, puddle in the spare tire area.
I guess it's time for new taillight gaskets. Thanks everyone.
