Check this guys. I was driving my car and i wanted to check my oil levels so popped the hood at my next gas stop.
I grab the dipstick and pull. The whole tube along with the dipstick popped right out! It took me a good 5 minutes to get that thing back in there. I've tried Honda-Bond. That doesn't work. Does anyone have this problem? the loose Dipstick? I tried plugging the whole tube back into the whole but it still wiggles around and i think it contributes to my oil levels going low every so often. Anyone else having the same problem or is it just me? I checked TypeR1111 ( nate )'s car and the dipstick tube was loose too!
Is there supposed to be an O-ring on teh tube where it goes into teh block? WHen i looked at it, it was just a metal tube. Help guys~!

I just did the search, it didn't hit me at the moment. its 11:30am and i haven't slept yet. I tried honda-bond and it didn't hold that well for me cause it still flexes. Im afraid if i apply some of that onto the tube and if any gets into teh oil pan and the block that it could cause some problems with the bottom end. Esp. if water gets in there cause i like to wash my engine bay and water and oil don't mix. I wonder if the dealer will fix the dipstick problem even if my engine's been opened up before.

That's probably because you didn't think to try searching on "t00b".

With Ken's License plates ( NSXTCJR), i thought he was gonna be some wild early 20's guy but when i met Ken at the bbq, he was the coolest old timer i've ever met. Why? Cause he's got an NSX and a Type R!
Tr00, tr00 ...
I met Ken at the Gingerman Expo,
and ironicly was just looking at some footage of the Expo trying to figure out why my my 10+ year old Sony 8mm video camera seems to have seen its last days.

Don't forget...if your ITR is under 60,000 miles, it's a free fix at the dealer.
98's are just now getting out of their warrenty period.
It took a full day at gingerman before my t00b let l00se, Kenny. It is still loose, but not nearly as bad as before. I im'ed willard and got some info, but all the info you need is in the 'dipstick t00b' thread... I think it is listed above.
Chris - who ought to go take a look (and fix) at his t00b....

Hey guys, the warranty in the U.S. is for 48 months or 50,000 miles, not 60,000 miles.

[edit] From the Hondabond t00b: "At 77 degrees and 50% relative humidity, the surface layer will dry in about 60 minutes, and the film sets to a rubber-like consistency in 15-16 hours. It takes about 3 days for perfect seating.
Since curing develops from the surface, the thicker the layer, the more time it takes to cure inside.[/edit]
Pat, who is headed out to the garage to check
