Default Techs Please Help!!

I just wanted to say hi to everybody as I am new to this forum.

My problem is that when I start the recently (in the cold - from Canada) The motor shakes alittle as if it is running rough (2000 b16a2 with 2000 si/sir comp. in 96 cxhatch). Onece the car reaches the normal oppperating temp after 6-7 mins it appears to go away (engine doesn't shake as much) The only thing is that when you go to accererate the car starts to go then kind of hesitates or feels like lack of fuel-or perhaps too much (kinda boggs down).

I was wondering if someone had knowledge of this problem first hand or have an educated Idea as to what could be causing it?/

I appologize for such a long post but I neede to all the info across.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post once again

wellcome, though i would first assume plugs, wires, tune up stuff, but being its a 2000 engine there cant be alot of wear on it? But you never stated if it was throwing codes? Are you using converssion harness, and or chiped ecu (i experince these problems and i have linked it to the race ecu and we are using similar setup) Bypassiing coolent? chech your timing and connections to plugs

though like i stated above, i experince same problems, and sometimes even my engine will stale at lights, i have learned to just deal with it!

good luck, eric

Thanks for the speedy reply (I feel welcome already).

The only code I getonce in a while is code 90 (which the installer said is because my car does not have a fuel tank pressure sensor whereas the si/sir does he also said this wouldnd affect driveability and it hasnt)

As for plugs and wires they were changed like 1000km ago. (the plugs arent platinum but supposedly thats ok, using accel wires, and new oem honda cap & rotor)

Ths ecu it stock one that came on 99/00 si/sir P2t i think is the ecu code.

Thanks for the speedy reply please keep em commin

you have a 96 cx? how did you use the 99 ecu? unless you used the 99 wiring harness, otherwise the plugs will not line up!
i think 90 is just the gas cap code?
perhaps maybe a bad tank of fuel?
Has it done this the whole time you have had engine in car? or something new ( ie. last 1000 miles or so) Keep giving us info, maybe someone or i will be able to help~! eric

They had to modify the 96 cx harness *some of the pin locations are dfifferent* (the car ran perfect even with code 90 no problems at all it seemed to come about when the weather got colder)

It hasn't done this the whole time just within thenlas week or so. I am gonna fill up again and maybe run a f/i cleaner tonigh. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

But until then please keep the info comming. I really appreciate your help thus far eric

keep it up

Thanks

Welcome to the board. You also should try checking you'r fuel presure. Mine used to bogg and I changed the fuel settings ( Leaned it up a bit ) and that helped out. Good luck

Also when you'r car is warming up it is normal for the car to shake a little more than usual and to be a little louder than when its at normal operating tempature.

Thanks Eric, will do!

Stuckatworksi how does one go aboiut checking their fuel pressure and leaning it out ?? (is this where a fuel pressure regulator comes in). Is this normal as the motor has only 70000kms and is not really modified other than intake/exhaust?

Thanks for the help thus far guys

I really appreciate it!!

That's what I did- installed a B & M FPR, turned down fuel pressure just a bit. Stock it was at 39psi, I bumped it down to about 34-36psi w. the vaccum line hooked up. Don't know if that's what's wrong, but hope it helps

Thanks eric will do!

I am usinhg accel thendersport wires with oem honda non-platinum plugs. As for the gap i'm not to sure as they were put in when I got the engine installed.

Do you think the plugs are the problem??

Thanks for your help Eric, i really appreciate it!

It turned out to be a faulty injector according to my mech. Just my luck, has anyone else heard or had first hand experience with this?? He put in a CRV one for the time being until I can get an SIR one.

He also replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter so hopefully it will run better (I pick it up tomorrow)

ERIC: Did you replace your fuel pump when you did your swap?? If so Did it make any difference?

Thanks in advance

Picked up my car from the shop today. My mech. told me that the problem (runing rich/rough at startup) was most likely caused by injector #3. He replaced it with a CRV one for the time being until I can get the proper one. He also replaced my fuel filter and fuel pump with the SIR one. After i left I noticed my CEL came on now i am getting code 72.

WTF

I don't know what to think

I really need your help on this one guys.

Thanks in advance

Ryan
