Removing Airbag/Steering Wheel
how do you remove the airbag in a 5th gen Civic so as to get to the bolt holding the wheel onto the steering column? i have a leather-wrapped ITR wheel coming and i need to know how to swap them out
thanks in advance

on the sides of the steering wheel there plastic panels, remove those panels and that gives you access to torque bolts, remove those bolts and that removes your center portion of the steering wheel with the airbag giving you access to the main bolt. also dont forget to remove the panel under the wheel too and unclip the airbag and put the red harness into the yellow harness to keep the bag from blowing by accident. its super simple.

thread from the dead....i actually used a screwdriver on both sides (near cruise control and exact opposite) and pulled the airbag out the front, and disconnected teh wires, then use i think 16mm socket to get the wheel off the column
lol...search lead me here. i tried my largest flathead screwdriver and no dice. its really tight and i dont wanna half *** my airbag screws. dont wanna have a blown bag stuck there lol. im almost positive its a torx screw i just need the size of it.

Question to Haloseven about Installing your ITR wheel, What year Integra steering wheel was this? You mentioned the acura plugs were the same as your civic airbag plugs, Please confirm on this, Thanks.
it is a t30 torx (star) screw,..and when i took mine off,..there was 4 bolts on the back,...those bolts are weird,..ive never seen them before,..i had to use robo grips to get them off,...oh and the first thing you do is pull the fuse for your SRS,..and then pull the yellow plug,...then work on the steering wheel,...while your steering wheel is off,..dont turn the shaft
