Default Anyone using this (QTEC)

http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/qtec.htm

Electronically controlled dump tube. Perfect if you don't like exhausts need the flow on the track or the occasional street run

Anybody running one? Impressions? I want to hook it up to my V-AFC and have it open when I am in VTEC so I retain torque down low and have the flow up top

A fairly old-school trick...used to see this on V8 muscle cars fairly often, though usually operated by a cable or a rod linkage. I'd wire it with an on-off switch as well though...just in case you need it to NOT open on VTEC activation for some reason

Yeah it's old school but still a good idea...well if I ruin the switch after the power from the VTEC wire I should be fine...I don't think there is any situation where I want it open when I'm not in VTEC

I just found out about this from a friend. Pretty cool idea, but I have a question in mind about it...

Even with the QTEC open, wont some exhaust gasses still pass through the b pipe and muffler?

I thought about putting the stock exhaust back on (Civic Si) with this attached to a test pipe. Now that would be stealth!

Or a QTEC mated to a testpipe and GReddy EVO, which I currently have, haha ideas ideas

What do all ya think?

Yeah I think thats a good idea because I will be using this with a test pipe too and an apexi WS. That would be very nice the way you said it too.

Yeah I think some would go in the rest of the exhaust with it open but if you think about it it wouldnt be much because its gonna want to take the fastest/easiest route

wouldn't suggest this for anything but FI.

why not? I should have somewhere around 215 WHP with this motor. And with a JUN header that would help alot after vtec kicks in. I will have it hooked up to my EMS so that as soon as vtec opens or maybe after vtec's powerband levels out I will open it for some extra POWER! Not to mention scareing the **** out of some youg punk who thinks he is fast!

becuase no matter how much hp you have NA your motor will still like some resistance.

yeah, your right, but I think it will get some kind of resistance because some of the gas is still gonna go through the rest of the exhaust.

No this isnt very true in N/a you can benifit from this. Most likely you wont see huge gains on the dyno but at the track is were u'll see alot better results. If you think about all the people that run open header and dropping 2-4 tenths in the 1/4.

yeah I know. But it still will help. I do agree with you though on the FI setups. You will gain alot more power going FI with one of these. Not to mention it wont be as loud!
