V1 remote display install

You guys asked for more pics...here they are:
pull the clock out:
Then take the guts out:
Now take your remote display and duct tape (use duct tape cause zip ties won't work here) your remote display to the clock cover:
Run the wiring like this:
from behind the clock, to where the cluster is, like this:
Daylight is where the opening for the clock is...this shot is from the cluster:
Now run the wiring down to behind the stereo to the module/connector thing supplied by v1...:
Put everything back together, and it'll look like this:
now, go have one of these:
Enjoy.

I like that a lot! I have my Passport 8500 remote display built into the gauge cluster. I'll take some pics sometime.....but the clock idea, that's awesome!

Anybody mount the V1 unit in the 3rd brake light housing? This is what we did in a friend's non-R (cough, bmw, cough) and the only thing visible is the remote audio controller.
do they make remote sensors and such so you don't have to mount the v1 on your windshield? I've heard of some company mounting sensors in the bumpers?
I did mine today very easy, I have yet to drive the car at night, which brings up the question.
The display has a dimming lcd, being in the dash and all is it hard to read?

No, and on their site www.valentine1.com they explain why. basically its cause the radar needs to be mounted up as high as possible to get best reception, earliest detection.
I'm working on a concealed display where I house the main unit in a sealed abs plastic box that I can mount to my roof rack, cause the rack stays on all fall/winter...we'll see if I ever get around to it though.

it's easier to read at night

That pic is from the guage cluster, looking toward the clock. It shows where to run the rj-45 cable to power the remote unit.
For the other mods I'm doing this weekend.

I really like this install. I have been telling myself that I really need a V1. And this would be a perfect reason to get one. I would like more info on install if you have any more. Please email if you would. I am still trying to figure out a way to install the main unit in a more stealth way.
Good job!
