JDM ITR exhaust vs. USDM ITR exhaust
back from the dead
after 45 minutes of searching now...
i haven't gotten my question answered..
is the jdm itr axleback/b-pipe 2.38 ID, and the USDM 2.25? or are they the same,
except for b pipe length? i keep hearing different stories

usdm itr 2.25 dia piping.
jdm itr 2.50 dia piping. jdm itr header seems shorter than my usdm by about 4 inch (i think) to the cat. found out the hard way. had to put an omnipower test pipe.

NO.
Both USDM and JDM exhausts are the same diameter and have the same bottlenecks. The only difference is the length of the b pipe.

It's a 4.5" difference in lenght, the USDM exhaust is shorter. When I was waiting for my JDM Mugen Twinloop, I made a short test pipe to bolt the USDM ITR exhaust up to my JDM Kakimoto testpipe which has the same dimensions as the JDM cat.

Edited...Don't mind me...I must have been seeing things or something but I thought we were on the subject of exhaust manifolds...opps
wasn't thinking right at the time.
Anyways don't know the difference between JDM & USDM.

I just measured my USDM ITR exhaust B-pipe and the outer diameter is 2.25in. I believe the JDM ITR exhaust B-pipe is 2 3/8in diameter.

Correct...my 96spec ITR b-pipe is 60.5mm OD (2.38")

ha..funny i started this thread awhile ago..
now i have a full jdm itr catback on my car.
the axleback is different too..with the jdm itr tip sticking out more..
and the muffler portion looks bigger.
edit: notice how the tip goes out past the bumper (sorry, hard to tell from the angle but it does) in the following pic:

you couldn't be more wrong. i don't even have a cat.
i have a custom made testpipe that connects my jg edelbrock header w/2.5 modded collector to the jdm itr catback.
i have seen both side by side. but if you think you're the only one with a decent pair of eyes and a brain that works i guess you might be right lol

A JDM ITR header, cat, b pipe and axleback is the same exact length as a USDM ITR header, cat, b pipe, and axleback.
Therefore, your header and cat combination must be longer than a JDM ITR header and cat, which is pushing your exhaust further out than it should be.

that MIGHT be due to your exhaust hangers..i had the same problem when my friend hooked them up on the wrong chassis hanger clip things.

I've never seen an ITR exhaust JDM or USDM stick that far out. What makes yours stick out when pictures of bone stock jdm 96 spec/98 spec itrs in Japan have perfect fitting ones?

When you say you've seen both side by side, are you talking about just the catbacks? If so, I think what people are saying is that if you measure a JDM ITR header/cat/exhaust all bolted together against a USDM ITR header/cat/exhaust, you will find that they are the same overall length.
