Default Kumho or Yokohama?

kinda debating between kumho supra 712's and yokohama parada spec 2's.. the cost difference is only about $11 a tire, so i'm not really sure which i should get. both seem like great tires, and both seem pretty reasonable for daily street driving. the falken azenis area great, but they wear too fast.

Probably depends on how much driving will be done in the rain. For me, I needed a tire that I could drive through heavy rain and still be safe. I don't know how the Parada is in the rain but the design doesn't look too rain friendly.

Well if treadwear is an issue, dont get the paradas. Ive had 3 sets of kumhos, and for the money I think they are really rather decent.

I sell tire for a living and I wouldn't be caught dead wth the kuhmo (or maybe I would) I bought the parada Spec2 the performance is much greater.

I have supra 712's on my Prelude...they don't grip as well as my Potenza re730's did when cornering. Normal driving seems fine so far.

I'm a little drunk right now but I think I can answer this coherently

Kumho's grip in the dry is enough to scare the **** out of your friends. Wet grip is excellent. I wouldn't rule out the Yokahoma AVS ES 100's or Falken Azenis if rain and treadware aren't concerns.

Y even bother with the Kumhos are just a new kid on the block while the Paradas has been around for quite some time...my friend had a Kumho and they are loud tires on regular driving...and they dont even have that good grip...i guess what will u expect from a new tire that just recently came out on the market...

That's way harsh. The Kuhmos are probably better than 85% of the tires out on the road everyday. The masses just go into a tire shop and buy whatever the salesman is pushing. The Kuhmos are a great value, but the parada spec 2 may well be worth the small premium. I noticed a big difference in price between the 2 at 205/40-17 and only a small one at 205/45-17. I've been on Kuhmos for over a year, but I think I'll try the Yokos next spring. There's lots of info on these two at: http://www.tirerack.com/

Look in the review & survey sections. Very useful.

thats where i was planning to order them. i noticed that they both are rated very highly, but was wondering if the yoko's are worth the extra 40 bucks. was trying to stay on a budget.

kumho's are good under normal driving, so are those pep boy brand tires.
when you are trying to fly during the turns, kumho's are your tires because they
wont girp the road. if you want some good tires why not spend the extra 5 - 20 bucks and get something decent. yok es100's are very good for the price. spend a lot more and get some so-3. so-3 are the best tires i've had so far. doesnt really squeel in a HARD turn. and trust me i takes those turns pretty hard. so-3's only squeel when they warm up quite a bit. even then its very quiet.

**** *** hoes (kumho's)

There must be 2 different versions of these Kuhmo ES 712s or something. I take turns at very high speeds constantly and my tires do not lose grip. They're roughly equal to my last set of bridgestones save that they're better in the rain and have lasted 3x as long. Not the best tire ever but half the price of the S-03 poles or Firehawks, with most of the performance.

If there's $40 difference/tire at the size you need, then get the Kuhmos.

Paradas are just for SHOW kinda tires for me. Maybe u should think about Kumho 712 and Dunlop FM901 instead.

Seriously, maybe some of you got a defective batch or something, but I've been pretty satisfied with my Kumho's. Their loud yeah, but their also cheap, durable, and give a decent amount of grip for the $.

actually Kumho was around for a long time. It originated from Korea and was recently mass sold here in America, maybe thats why it may seem new to you.

actually the spec 2 paradas are supposed to be pretty good. My friend just got some a few weeks ago and he likes them a lot. I have the kumho 712s and they are decent tires..10000000 times better than the stocks that's for sure. If I were you, I'd check out the new yokohama es100s.

kumho's are great tires for the price. they grip very well on high speeds... i did about 143mph today.. ( topped out my car.. ) and i had to swerve a few times from a few cars. it has excellent grip.

I've never seen a tire that compares to the stock Michelins that came on my car. I can't believe Honda would even allow anyone to put such a tire on any car let alone a car in their Acura line. Mine had about 80% tread left and if there was even a light sprinkle I had to park or hydroplane into a wall. Replacing that total garbage remains as the best mod I've ever made to my car...even though the tires I replaced them with are now gone.

yeah i agree stock michelin tires are really bad. you cant even drag race because you'll be stuck in the start line peeling out.

i think the kumho's are okay tires. They grip very well for zippy daily driving, pushed to 9/10th, you feel discomfort so you slow down before losing it. I had potenza re-730's on my old car. More confidence inspiring with little warning before they break loose. Dangerous combo for me.
