Default Fenderwell Trim on ITR

this would apply to other integras as well..

i was told before to remove fenderwell trim - since it causes rust after some time (few years maybe?).. any of you removed it? i started to remove it, then thought about rocks hitting the paint.. and eventually leading to rust...

latest generation hondas don't seem to have it.. 3rd generation integras came out in 94, so I'm thinking at some time honda realized fenderwell trim isn't soo good in the long run?

I pulled mine off shortly after purchasing the car. They are traps for moisture and with time can lead to rust. I just looked at my fenders and not a scratch or paint chip to be found...that's two years of daily driving. So, don't worry about the scratches.

What exactly is this fenderwell trim of which you speak?

Do you have a pic?

I believe he's referring to the rubber trim that goes along the Fenderwell edge..

There is no downside to removing it.

Some people remove it to avoid rubbing with larger wheels.

I think it is best to leave it on and spray some rust inhibitors in it.

I recently had some rust removed from my rear fenders. The rust was located where the fender trim was not present.

rocks hitting the paint.. and eventually leading to rust...

Why don't you try asking in the regular Integra forum?

Most people with Integras read that forum, not this one.

I had a 94 Integra for 2 years and up until then it never rusted like you guys speak of. Maybe it's the weather conditions, i'm in hot *** so cal. I would personally leave it.

Why are people in So cal even repsonding to this thread?

Anyhow, yes, they trap salt/mud/dirt in there that can lead to rusting. If you are worried about the chips, buy some of that underbody spray and hit the outside of the lip with it (masking off the body of course). And when you wash, run a hose up under there to flush everything out.

I just took my trim off of my ITR and there was all kinds of crap up in there. Even salt from where I had to drive the car one winter back two years ago. And I am very conscience when it comes to washing under there.

Just bought a 97 and since this topic is on the trim, is there a lot of glue residue under the trim that holds it?? if so whats the best way to get that off??

Thanks.
