Default Honda-Challenge Races, In-Car Videos from Lowe's Motor Speedway, Sept 7-8

Ok guys, finally, I have some video clips. I never knew how many people waited for these things until I started getting so many IMs and emails. I'm beginning to feel more like a rolling film crew than a driver. However, I'm really glad everybody enjoys them.
The whole weekend seemed to go really well for me, as I know quite a few of my Honda-Challenge Brothers had a rough time. I was quite thankful to have a fun, safe weekend. Thanks to Andy (8400-RPM) again for acting as my Crew Chief, and for all the help. And of course, thanks goes out again to Scott and Karl (founders of the series) and to NASA VA, and all the track workers who kept us safe... You guys Rule!
Enough of the small talk though... here's some video(right-click and "save as" for best results):

Saturday's Race Start:
http://www.primalsoup.org/videos/low..._SAT_START.wmv

A spin (a couple cars involved) shortly after the start:
http://www.primalsoup.org/videos/low...50car_Spin.wmv

Here's a few Laps as the race continued:

http://www.primalsoup.org/videos/low..._LOWES_Sat.wmv

A caution came out to slow everybody down while emergency workers were on the track for an incident, here's a clip as the caution lights go out and we resume racing:
http://www.primalsoup.org/videos/low...er_Caution.wmv

A nice little Love Tap in Turn 3a during this lap... The infield was nicely lit but shadows and dark spots made for some tricky racing. A lot of concentration goes to awareness of the locations of your fellow racers:

Starnes gets by me in the last couple laps of the race:

Saturday's Race Finish:

Here's the clips from Sunday's Race:

Sunday's Race Start:

More racing:

For several laps I was playing tag with the 58 car... I would lead the oval and then he would pass in the infield... we stayed together for a little while until he spun in turn 4b:
http://www.primalsoup.org/videos/low...58car_spin.wmv

More racing:
http://www.primalsoup.org/videos/low...S_4_Sunday.wmv

A nice clean lap:

And the white flag is out (Last Lap):

Sunday's Race Finish:

enjoy!

That dust cloud was there a lot! Nice vids Robert... I understand about being hard to see in the infield, I couldn't see Tom's civic around me anytime, and just had to asume he was there, and I couldn't apex the corners, yea, it was slow, but still scary...

Nice vids as usual

For those of you who don't know Lowes, check out that hole in the concrete wall as you leave the infield. That's what Tom and I spun through. Both of us were spinning like tops, which is pretty friggin hard to do to a FF car

Awesome vids,, nice recovery from the tap too! Night racing looks very interesting; trickier, maybe, but looks like it adds a lot of excitement.

Your one of the only people ive seen "skip" gears. I do basically the same thing you do coming off the oval, going from 5th to 3rd. When I drive at Sebring going into the hairpin which requires a 4-2 downshift, I blip the throttle going into 3rd (not coming out on the clutch), then another blip down into 2nd and release the clutch. Works very well for me (looks like it worked well for you as well) and saves the clutch one enganement, yet is just as safe for the tranny by splitting up the work by putting the shifter into 3rd (4th for you) but not releasing the clutch.

Anyway, nice ramble... run on?? Sweet vids, thanks!

Or This:

Here are my predictions of what the critics will say:

" wayyyy up "- Sissy and Eggbart who now smokes rope

"A racing Masterpiece...." Ner Yak times

"These films suck! Honda's SUCK!!!" - Car and Driver forums....

You aren't kidding! Those guys are about as ignorant as they come.
I refuse to waste my time over there any more.
