HondaSaver - SOHC Cam
Although this is not a turbo engine, my favorite forum is FI so here it goes. The cam should work for a wild turbo set though. (Hope this is okay with you Dustin
)
My mechanic just informed me that he was able to lay down the following power figures and track performance with the HS non-Vtec SOHC cam (code name NC15).
131 whp NA
115 ft-tq
This was enough power to motivate a 1400lb CRX to 13.77 at 103mph in the 1/4 mile at Bakersfield. The owner of the car has the run taped.
Engine is (All Stock parts so building an engine like this is very repeatable.)
D15 Head milled 0.060
D16Y8 Intake Mani
D15B Bottom End
ZC Exhaust Mani with LS B-pipe
No Cam Gear.
90 SI ECU with 7.2K rev limit. (Engine pulled hard to red-line.)
Valve lash was set at 0.010/0.08 int/exh so more power can be had be tightening the lash a bit. Every 0.001 lash reduction gives the cam about 1 degree more duration.
Also since it had no Cam gear the cam was ran slightly retarded so the power band favored the upper rpms.
Here are some pics of the cam:
Specs are 265 duration with 10.4mm lift. Ramps are mild enough for use with stock springs.
Price is $275 plus core retail I will have dealers so the price will be cheaper through my dealers.

Stock is 210 duration 9.5mm lift with much milder ramps.
Idle sounds like "ba bub ba bub bub ba bub" this can be made smoother with a by advancing cam timing.

wat about a vtec cam?
Already in the works. Just need to get some springs to handle the extra lift available on the Vtec cams.

Ah hows it work with forced induction? Overlap that comes with aggresive N/A cams is not good for FI ... It would have to be FI specific .
