Default I need turbo seals

I recently ate the oil seals (tasty) on my turbo (garret T-3). I need to replace them but I don't want to pay 150$ for the rebuild kit. Any other options or is that it? Thanx for any help.

well, if you're not scared you can replace them yourself. I think the exhaust seal was like $40 or something alone but you have to find someone that will order one for you. you can also order the rebuild kits for like $90. I think I got mine from turbocity. they come with new bearings and new seals. I did it once but I pretty much decided its worth the extra $50 to have someone do it for you.

I think a lot of turbonetics parts are intercgangeable with Garrett parts and a new turbine and compressor seal is less than $20 total for a turbonetics turbo. I know 'cause I just bought them, now all I have to do is clean the oil off every square inch of my engine bay .

What about balance the turbo and shaft etc.... this is the only reason I wouldn't wanna replace the seals myself...

well, in theory if the wheel has NOT scraped the housing it should not be out of balance. But that is also one of the reasons I just have it done by someone that knows what they are doing.

This place will sell you piece for piece what you need for just about any turbo

http://www.softcom.net/users/hlturbo/2/

and turbo city sells rebuild kits for a few misc. turbos.

http://www.turbocity.com

I e-mailed them both asking for price quotes and I am hoping they will get back to me shortly.
I will post my findings when I get them.
