Default Somebody Has GOT to Buy this car for ECHC

http://www.rivergate5speed.com/for_sale.html

I saw this car at the ARRC last year. It ain't slow.
Here you have a potentially competitive H5 car for $3200 complete and ready to race.

Attention... all you guys talking about building cars from scratch... This is what guys like Crack Monkey and myself have been talking about. This is seriously the way to go if you want to race. Don't make the mistakes many of us have made by spending too much money and ruining a perfectly good street car.

Hell.. the cage in this car alone would cost $1500 at a minimum. The suspension is at least another $1500. It's almost like buying a cage and suspension and getting the rest of the car for free.

I will be disappointed if this thing isn't running in H5 by next year. I'm struggling with the urge to buy the damned thing myself (ya know, because I need TWO race cars).

DSP or FSP. However IT prepped cars are not good for SP classes although they are allowed due to weight and tire limitations that nationally prepared SP cars do not have to deal with. You cant run the gutted interior+cage+no ballast+13x9 wheelz...

I'm with Scott. And this thing is still titled for street use - all those of you unable to spend the $$ on a tow vehicle...this could be it. The "aluminum inverted shocks" are likely $1500 worth of gear by themselves.

This car also serves as further evidence that I am indeed an idiot. I paid almost that much for the MGB in my garage that hasn't run in several months, and hasn't moved in over a year

I keep sayin' it, H5 is the way to go if you want to get on track cheap (relatively) and still have fun. I paid a little less for my car than that, but just a couple hundred less, and that car is WAY more developed than my Teg was when I bought it. I have seen this car run as well and have talked to the Perry's on a couple of occasions. It is fast. I FEAR this car coming to H5 !

Hope someone picks it up. Hey, we could have a new H5 driver for Lowes! Somebody please!!

lets say if i got this car.....where would I be racing...what kind of racing would it be, i've only really been around auto-x (i'm only 17) but this sounds like a good (and cheap) way to step it up some.

They look like the old mugen "Fortran Asso" wheels they often used on their older race cars ie. 2nd gen lude, accord, 1st gen teg and cr-x. i would but it but i'm gonna build up a lude for ECHC and driving schools.

Maybe he spent $50 (total!) at a junkyard for used E30 BMW wheels instead of $1,000 (each!) for Unobtanium Alloys.

You could punt little hatchies left and right with that thing, if it wasn't for that darn 13/13 rule. j/k

Somehow I doubt it would pass emissions in NOVA, so I'd still need a tow vehicle & trailer. Let's see now...

This type of car (maybe this very car) would be a great entry-level racer. A person could run SCCA (http://www.scca.org/) or NASA ((http://veloce.nasaproracing.com/) driver schools and races - particularly the East Coast Honda Challenge (http://www.honda-challenge.com/) if you live in the right area.

It could also be autocrossed (DSP?) but wouldn't be nationally competitive probably (but who cares, really), or run at hillclimbs (e.g., http://nhahillclimb.org/) or rallycrosses (like http://www.dcrally.com/rallycross/rallycross.htm).

Racing is not cheap but this would be about as affordable is it gets. Figure about $1000-2000 per event if you amortize all of your costs over a couple of seasons.

There's at least two potential ECHC cars for sale out there. How about an ECHC Senior Series?? Spec whitewall tires? Mandatory nap stop every 10 laps? Maybe hit up Ben-Gay and Depends for sponsorship?

If I had somewhere to put a race car, a trailer, and a truck...and could convince Karen that her bathroom <u>really</u> didn't need remodeling...

I may have to pass on this one, but I'm working on it.

It's only $3200! C'mon, now...I know you're loaded.
I wish. Just got through replacing our deck, and I figure that the nails must be carved from billet, for what that cost. I think folks decide to start up F1 teams because its cheaper than having their houses worked on. Even our do-it-your self refresh of the downstairs powder room ran close to 4 figures. I thought some women I've known were high-maintenance, but a house...

If I get into this racing stuff, I'm going with a full equipe... car, trailer, tow vehicle. I'd rather not spend a Sunday afternoon wondering how I'm going to get a broken race car, and myself, home from 500 miles away.

So true, so true. Last year (before I started down the ECHC path) is when I bought this house...and it was a real financial drain. Actual wheel to wheel racing is a close rival.

I can see it now: H5 #77, co-driven driven by George Knighton and Jerry Birchmore(?), with sponsorship from:

Papa John's
Viagra
Depends
Preparation-H
Ben-Gay
Centrum Silver
AARP
SMS Products

Jerry...this looks like a decent potential tow vehicle. These are 'strong like bull.' A transmission rebuild and you should be set. The mileage is high, but it's close enough to go out and look. When I ever have a racecar, I think I'm going with a van.
