Of course you could do that but why do you want to save money. lol

I'm trying this with an aem ems...I think it will work fine.

i built the oz-diy-efi

it works as advertised. its a good kit. as far as i can tell, its pretty accurate.

It reads 14.7:1 at part throttle with the stock ecu and stock o2 controlling fuel.

dustin also has this unit (he got a prebuilt unit when they offered them) and has reported it was never more than .1 or .2 off from the wideband at the dyno. definitely close enough.

BUT you NEED good electronics and soldering skills to build the kit, if you got that, that its an excellent project and worth the time.

between the main wideband circuit board and the 2 tiny boards in the display, plus assembly and building cables, it took me like 15 hours to do it all. it was a bit more work than expected but definitely worth it in the end.

plus, i'll be tuning my motorcycle carbs with it in the future.

Would it be a good idea to run the civic wideband 02 sensor instead of my factory integra 02 sensor?????

I'm in the build process now. But I also have a friend who is a certified electronics guru helping me with the soldering.

You see no benefit form doing this on your factory setup. The 92-95 Civic VX o2 sensor is a 5 wire NTK sensor. It won't even plug up to your harness. However you need an special ECU or controller to utilize the sensor. So unless you want to get a wideband o2 kit or run a civic VX computer and re-wire a portion of your factor haness.....there isn't really any point. The VX engine is a "lean burn" engine, the ECU uses the wideband reading to purposefully run the engine leaner than normal most of the time to get better fuel milage.

The same sensor is used with the DIY and FJO wideband kits.

yup, and some company called Motec also uses that sensor for their wideband products.

I was reading thru the process of the DIY wideband and it's definitely way over my head. Anyone willing to put one together for me?

after putting it together myself, i can honestly say its worth every penny to pay techedge to sell you an assembled kit, unless you like doing this stuff, AND have the time.

take pics as you go and share it. plus dont hesitate to ask questions. i had a lot of questions and made some lucky guesses instead of waiting and askign the right people, also, join up with the oz-diy-wb group on yahoo...get there from the http://www.techedge.com.au website

edit - also i just noticed that they offer a ready made cable from the NTK sensor to the WIB o2 controller box, but its gonna be a bitch to get thru the firewall with the fat connectors on the ends already. might want to build that cable yourself.

Their cable has a very small round connector on one end.

No room for A/C, but my chassis had is stock. I removed the condenser box and ran the sensor wiring through it's hole in the firewall. It provides just enough room to get that beeoch plug though.....Check that link I posted above for an album of the install.

You can build a great electrical device like this, but can't drill a hole thru the firewall? LOL! j/k

Seriously, how much would a fully assembled piece cost? Or how much would someone charge for it? I can get the VX O2 sensor myself...the rest is all Greek to me!

I just ordered all the components from digicom for $53 cdn. I can also ordered the vx o2 sensor for $233.xx CDN

I'll do the lcd display & datalogging after I finish the unit to see how it goes
