slotted rotors side question
does it matter which side you put them on.. i know they are marked but i wasnt paying attention when putting them on and the slots are going the wrong way.....im not sure if changing them will matter...thanks guys
P.S....i know this is my fault...no flames please

the slots look like they are clawing the ground when in forward rotation.
[edit] ok that didnt make sense. on RIGHT rotor the top slot should be oriented like / , and the LEFT rotor the top slot should be \ .

changes its effectiveness that you arent using it the way its designed. so if youre not gonna use em right, why bother getting them.... i would change em.

i think it depends on the rotor - i tried to debate this on another forum but got no help.
i have powerslots, and i know i put them on correctly (according to the way they were labeled anyway). the slots go in the opposite direction you described - for example the top of the right (passenger) rotor looks like \, it hits the pad low to high. i know two other people with powerslots and they have them the same way, but most other slotted rotors on cars i've seen in person or in mags have them going the other way.
i sent an email to powerslot, but got no response.
please post opinions/comments, i'd really like to know the deal.

but either in one of carroll smiths books or some book on brakes i remember reading the slot should be parallel to the leading edge of the pad. either way, i agree the vents are more important.

I agree with ruthless013 and here is my theory why. You want the dust and or gases to be carried away from the pad/rotor. So if the leading edge of the slot which is the first to touch the pad is point like this \ centripital forces along this slot will help to vent these items away. Its just a guess. What do you think.
if youre relying on centrifugal reasons, then it i is opposite of the "clawing" direction, as you would want the inside edge of the slot to hit the pad first. anyway, this is a non issue at this point, the rotor direction is determined by the vents, not the slots.
