1.CV shaft question/ 2.Clutch Question(Last steps in swap so help out)
1.CV Quesition:
im done with my swap all the way to the axles going in. in the process of trying to put the passenger side axle into the the hub by hammering it in with a hammer and a 2x4 the cv boot on the hub side got 2 small cuts in it. one about 1cm long and the other 5mm long. should i get the boot replaced now?
2.Clutch Question
with all of the swap done except the axles, we decided to get the clutch to sit right instead of at the floor, so we added some fluid to the resevoir and started pumping. it will come up off the floor now but it doesnt pop up to where it used to sit. do we just need to keep pumping the pedal, or is there some other thing we're missing or need to do.

I would replace the boots if there leaking. If not you should be fine. I didn't use a hammer to put my axles in, they just slipped in. As for the clutch pedal, there is a level on the side of the slave cyl, make sure you don't go above this(max fill line). I think as long as you properly bleed the system, it sould be fine.
how tough to replace?? they have 2 really small cuts in them that leak a little, no big tears. can i fix the cuts? the axle isnt going in easily at all, the stock civic one is just as heard to put in, but since it is a torn boot i hammered the center of the cv to check to make sure it will go back in and it does, but if i hit it on the outer edge it barely moves, if at all. any recommendations?

c'mon, please help me out, my swap could be finished tomorrow if you do......doesn't that make you want to lend a hand?
a little hassel now will save a lot later...
once dirt gets into the boot (and it will) the CV will be gone...
or you could risk it and be lucky - it may last 100'000!!!
too hard a problem to solve...
sorry,
t..
dunno on hte clutch

Dude, I would replace the boot. It will more than likely go out because of the split. It only takes a little hole and you are going to start losing grease when the axles are spinning. Then dirt and moisture will get in and your joint goes out shortly after.

how tough is it to change a boot(specifically the one by the hub? where would i get the parts, and having never done it before how long and hard will it be. i was also thinking that since the holes are pretty small that i might try patching it with some flexible patchy type stuff. input?
it is relatively easy! (have you ever rebuilt a master cylinder!!!???)
you jsut need a boot kit - not sure if you can buy single boots. not sure where from - prolly a driveshaft specialist in your area?
the kit will have hte steel bands and you need some sort of band tightening tool...
maybe 3 hours, you have to remove the shaft from the car though, and have an ultra-clean workbench!
i dont think you will have success with any sort of gooey patching stuff
