I've got a G3 teg and a 92' talon side mount intercooler. Does anyone have pics or suggestions where to mount this thing so it get's enough air flow?

 

this worked for me.

 

my dsm IC is actually on the side of my 93 coupe. I've got it in the passenger side front fender and you can see it through the vent that would be filled by the OEM foglights. I'll let you know how it works when I start boosting (broken wastegate )

 

pics? been wanting to see how this will look. do u still have ur fenderwells? mine are gone and im afraid rocks and crap from the tire will hit the sidemount from the back

That is a pretty tiny intercooler. Turbo lag is for sure very small, but what are the intake temps and how much do you boost?

 

It's a SMIC from a 90 Laser. I only boosted 5psi using that and it had good airflow so I guess air temps were good. That intercooler is nice and thick

 

i used a first gen talon intercooler on my del sol waaaaay back in the day. it was mounted in front of the passenger side wheel well and fit surprisingly well. i used a dremel to cut a rectangular hole in the bumper and put some mesh screen behind it. it turned out pretty nice... but it had to go when i got my second intercooler.... the infamous starion i/c.

 

Sounds like in front of the passenger side wheel well is a good location. Does anyone have pics of this setup?

After seeing an MR2 setup, I think it might be useful to put some sort of a fan in front of a side mount intercooler (especially if it's not exposed to air much)

yo, i was wondering what year/ make/ model intercooler that is from which Dsm ( i.E. eclipse, talon, laser GST/gsx?) thanks, later. also was there any modifications that had to be made to install the intercooler with no problem ? How effective is this intercooler set up against heatsoak ? Thanks guys.

im not sure what year it came from but the i bought it from a second generation eclipse... dont know exactly what year..... its my first intercooler, and it works i guess, cuz i feel some difference.. mostly on top end..... i got a about .5-1 psi boost drop... i need to check the silicone and rubber couplers i used....

 

Yeah thats the same as mine and its from a 1G dsm. Looks like you never had to cut the piping any, just mount where it to the same location as the eclipse/talon.

I think I may have mine too close to my turbo/turbo exhaust housing. My intake pipe is warm to the touch and shoulden't be like that. I'm going to try to mount it out further to the fron the of the bumper.

Does any one have any pics of this mounted to the front grill some where?
