According to data provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a safety recall was issued within the past 90 days affecting certain 2001 Acura Integras.

Component Description: INTERIOR SYSTEMS: PASSENGER RESTRAINTS:AIR BAG:FRONTAL: PASSENGER
NHTSA Campaign Number: 02V196000

Description of Recall Campaign: On certain passenger vehicles, some of the passenger air bag modules were not properly welded and may not deploy in a collision.
The seat occupant may not be properly protected in the event of a collision, increasing the risk of personal injury.

Dealers will replace the passenger air bag module. Owner notification is expected to begin during August 2002. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Honda at 1-800-999-1099 or Acura at 1-800-382-2238.

Wow, they recall 2001s, it's about time they recalled some Honda airbags. My brother's airbags in his 1997 Integra went off 2-3 minutes after the accident. It was one of those situations, it was funny, but not really. While we're on the topic, airbags really smell like ****, so this is, in a way, good news.

i totaled my 99 Si last october.....t-boned a truck and my airbags did not deploy

 

Well, I wouldn't get too worried yet. Number of units effected: 403. I would wait until you receive a notification in the mail.

Not just civics, many late-model hondas/acuras...

 

But not Integras.

According to the press release, the ignition recall "involves about 1.3 million of certain 1997 to 2000 models of the Honda Accord, Civic, Prelude, CR-V and Odyssey. Also included in the recall are some 1999 Acura TL sedans and certain 1997 to 1999 CL coupes."

Keep in mind that this is for the ignition recall, and has nothing to do with the air bag recall which was the original subject of this thread.

HEll I hit a tree head on and once a truck and my airbags did not go off either time but it makes me think that they dont work at all

 

When i totalled out my 2000 Si slidding into a wall frontally they didnt go off either.

 

Isuzu Oasis is also included in the ignition recall. (It's made by Honda)

 

all the more reason for the air bag removal and installing the CDM tray

 

I'm glad my Odyssey never got recalled.

 

i totalled my 99 integra (RIP) last week airbags deployed saved my life i rolled that **** so thank god it wasn't a 01

 

Airbags suck anyway

 

With about 400 cars affected out of some 14,000 Integras sold in 2001, your chances would have been pretty good in an '01.

Yeah, right. Who wants to have his life saved, anyway?
