Y-49 Curse??
I for one, believe in the curse.. It started with finally getting a yellow crx si... I did a straight d16 swap in it... but the kid who did it... lost my axles, cracked my windshield, and lost a bunch of other *important parts (injector clips, pins for sunroof)...then he broke into my car-twice...
Fast forward to today... I just swapped the tranny from my spare into my y-49. Everything went smooth...until I started the car... the mainshaft is bent, and now I have to swap the tranny out again.. a whole day wasted.... Anyways, it always seems to work out that all this stuff on my car decides to not work on me...and it's got a nasty temper when it wants to. But who knows? I don't...I'll still drive my yellow crx every day...even if it is cursed.

Let's put it this way. Me, I own a Rio Red CRX. My brother (89_Y_49) owns a Y-49 CRX.
Me: Picked up the car w/ 220,000km's on it. It never broke down save the alternator (I had a big stereo in it). Him: Picked up the car w/ 160,000km's on it. Head gasket started leaking soon after he got it. Replaced that, and two weeks later the timing belt snapped. Did an engine swap, and has had nothing but problems since. We both have Holley 190lph pumps and his just crapped out despite being newer than mine (2 weeks old vs six months old). His distributor has died despite his engine being 7 years newer than mine.
Face it, Y-49 equals doom

U read that blurb in the honda-perf.org site?
Well I own a y-49 and even got it repainted y-49 again...
Nothings happened. Bought it with 148000kms 3 yrs ago, swapped in b16a last yr and till this day it's running good still. Well, I have 02 sensor problems but other then that I'm pulling my daily 15.5 (running rich), no dents, no hit and runs, etc...
Bah, I don't believe in any superstitious stuff....

That would be cool man
You should come out on a track day or autocross or something; there's some sweet EFs around here.
big_pete, that sounds reeeeally crappy... you sure it hasn't just been painted white later?

Is there really a Y-49 curse??? I'm starting to get scared being a Y-49 owner myself. Is there any proof such a curse exists??

Metallic Blue Civics never die. I see the most of that color on the road. My car is covered in an awesome Maaco paintjob
to even further seal lucky blue inside.

Hahah yeah, damn Y-49 curse. I just wrecked my car like 1 week after I got it running again. I had to mess with the fuel system FOREVER... and then the car decieds it doesn't like me and I get into an accident
I'm scared to drive my car now. I did have it brake down on my once, she doesn't like to be drag raced with no battery holddown and no intake. So she got towed home on a flat bed where she got her front lip scraped.
I bet you know what I did when I got home the next day, yup bought a AEM CAI and a hold down, and also a new set of spark plug wires as a gift to her.
