Need Help!! - SI Complete Swap into 89 STD?
Hey guys I'm thinking about swapping my 89 STD 1.5L 4 speed engine/tranny for a 90 Civic Si 5spd engine/tranny. Some guy I kno is sellin me the complete swap for around 200. Engine/ECU/Axles/Mounts/Tranny. What else would I need to swap that engine into my 89 STD? How long do you think would this swap take for an experienced mechanic? Thanks guys
Si engine harness or convert yours to run MPFI. I'm also assuming that its a complete engine w/ alterntor, starter etc...Invest on these items when you do the swap, timing belt, fan belt and new waterpump, plugs, cap and rotor, oil and filter, coolant, upper and lower radiator hoses. Makes it easier in the long run.
thanx for the info guys...what is involved in converting a dfpi to a mfpi? so is that all I need? it should drop right in right? Also how long do you think this swap would take for an experienced mechanic. Thanks guys
You will need some of the plugs off of the Si harness... the distributor plug, the Injector plugs and the Injector resistor box. I had an Si harness when I did my MPFI swap and was able to graft the nessisary wires together without making a single splice under the hood (several at the ecu though)
here's about the best article I know of on how to convert the wiring...

The Si wiring is the same as the ZC, so follow this and you'll be fine.
