temporary noise after clutch/flywheel install
Replaced the clutch this weekend after the Type-R OEM clutch I had installed about 60K miles ago started givng me problems in 3rd-5th gears. When we dropped the tranny a piece of one of the ?retaining clips? that holds the spring in the clutch had overheated and broken off. All the springs were in place tho. Anyhow, we replaced everything and when I started the car up (in nuetral) there was this loud noise which sounded like a slipping belt, only it was coming from the tranny side. After about 30 seconds it started to fade and went from a solid howl to a whirring sound. After about a minute the noise went away completely and has not returned. The car drives and everything feels normal, but I'm a bit worried about what that sound might have been.
Here are the details:
CM flywheel
Sachs clutch kit (came with an Exedy clutch),
10w30 Mobil One in the case.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike
