Default National Grand Prix - Saturday Paddock Pictures (16 huge pics inside!)

Well, I had a blast today at the National Grand Prix in Washington, DC. I went a with a bunch of friends who had never been exposed to anything like it, so they thought it was cool too. The weekend's events include races for the American Le Mans Series, Trans-Am Series, and Speed GT and Touring Series.

Here are some pics that I took today, and hopefully I will be able to get my whole album up somewhere, because there are more where these came from!

You can check out Part 2 here.

Here's a typical LMP 675 car

Another prototype car with some work being done on it before qualifying

Uh, shouldn't those gears be in the gearbox with an hour to go before qualifying?

How about a little Audi R8 goodness

Can you say "carbon fiber"?

A day at the office

A C5R getting a workover

I can imagine this puppy can create a little downforce

These guys were setting up the alignment on the car with fishingline and a tapemeasure. If you look closely, you can see the fishing reel hanging off of the pole at the back of the car.

The Turner Motorsports crew getting things together in the paddock

The Foo-mobile after his qualifying session. (He was kind enough to sign my T-shirt )

b00st pwnz joo!

Some action in the Realtime pit. You can see some of the techs under Cunningham's car swapping out the tranny. We watched for a bit.

Another shot of the Realtime boys

I spoke to Pierre and Pete briefly, and even got them to sign my Realtime shirt.

Stay tuned for some on-track pics coming soon!

great pix! man, they must repaint those RTR ITR's after every race. They take a beating, but look meticulous for the next race.

that's how my uncle fix alignment in Hong Kong

he is a mechanic, a racing mechanic, He helped a friend in Macau

sometimes many ppl in hong kong just asked him to fix alignment EVEN AFTER those cars has been fixed BY computers

don't know, but ppl says using thoes stuff is more accurate than computers

Nice diffuser pics.
Do you have any pics under the rear or under the front of the RealTime Integras?

Thank You.

No, I don't. When I stopped by, the only car up on a jack was having a new tranny put in, and I didn't want to get in the way. And I couldn't get access to the rear of the cars.

looking at all the stones stuck in those tires is really really weird. I don't really know why, but it's freaking me out. Id sit there and pick them all out. . .

I was in DC for the race and I asked that very question of someone at RealTime. He said they were coming along, but they just needed more time. They only had a short time until the next race (2 weeks?) and were going to be busy doing repairs (Kleinubing's front end was pretty bashed in, and the NSX needed work too), so he expected no time to work on the RSX. He said probably in time for Laguna Seca.

Interestingly, he said the brakes were better on the RSX, and that they had a DC5R motor.
