Nakamichi has always been a great company there distortion ratios are just about nill on everthing they make. I haven't seen an amp by them for a long time but I remember the distortion level used to be 0.0005% wow!

Dual 24 bit DA coverters is nothing new and has been around for a while. Nakamichi's are nice but as stated above lack features.

Sound comes from a combination of items not just the head unit esp if you wnat a nice system.. .. I agree with TEKEN about Nakamichi

My Uncle has a Nakamichi in his "weekend" car. It's older, but he has a denon amp for every speaker in the car. Needless to say, the sound quality is incredible. Tapes sound like CD's on that system, and more.

This is automotive audio sound in 2002 not 1990... I have never laid eyes on a McIntosh HU for the automotive scene in my life...

There home amplifiers have always been very well built... But in terms of looks... I really do not care for that old style nobby style and piano wood vaneer...

LOL... As far as I am aware Denon no longer makes car audio product anymore since 1999 or there abouts for the Canadian market place... Wether it be still available for North American distribution I don't believe so...
Denon makes stuff for the JDM market..VERY EXPENSIVE:

BTW, Teken is right about the old Nakamichi tape decks (I have a BX-300, not in the same league as the Dragon, but still the shiet)

Ha, that McIntosh looks like a mini version of all of the home systems and hardware.

Be careful Nakamichi filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy several months ago, and warranty service and technical support could become scarce..
Kinda like what happened to Clifford after DEI bought them out...

Several months later things began to straighten out but it took DEI quite awhile to get back on track...

if i remember correctly mac had a few headunits in the late 90s
the one in the pic, (cant remember the model) is a rebadged clarion 9575
not that theres anything wrong with that, i had one.
i replaced it with an alpine 7909 (bad move), but the point im trying to make is, both of these decks are regarded as alltime top 5 (at least), and both have dual 20 bit Burr-Brown. infact, the only deck i can think of FOR SURE, that are not 20 bit, and are considered a hardcore SQ deck is the pioneer p1,p9 and the eclipse cd8062. (it is possible that im wrong about p1,p9)

anyways tekken
