Type One Exhaust
Well, those are the pics.. self-explanatory. Okay, so i start her up, sounds good. Deep.. really deep. So I pull her out, and i take her for a spin. WOW, the thing pulls REALLY well. From 4k up, you can feel the car start to pull harder and harder, and btw, i was going UP hill w/ 3 people in the car. I also went for a spin with just myself in the car, still pulls REALLY nice. I am very pleased with it. Okay, sound issue, the car.. is.. LOUD. Okay, my ears started ringing.. and you know when you step outta a loud place(concert) and your ears feel like you have cotton in them and your hearing is temporarily lessened, it's kinda like that. But then again, I HAVE sensitive ears.. somewhat. NEXT, i took it out and drove it under real everyday driving characteristics. It wasn't so bad, it's definitely streetable if you keep the car under half throttle or less and you cruise at a RPM lower than 4k. So, I had to put the silencer in. With the silencer, it's quite nice. VERY tolerable and VERY streetable. Louder than stock, but deeper than stock. And then you might say, "Well that's stupid of you, buy exhaust and put in the silencer.." I thought i would be able to tolerate it as a daily driver, guess not. But I do go to quite a few SCCA and NASA events, so i'll take it out then.

cliff notes:
Exhaust pulls REALLY well. Pulls extremely hard over stock(yes, there is a stock type R in the garage so i can compare). Nice top end pull. Downside, it's LOUD. Barely streetable with the windows down. Streetable under half throttle, windows up, and keepin it under 4k OR w/ silencer.
EDIT:
For those of you who don't know... 2.5" OD/ 2.38" ID

Finally got everything installed, eh? I was in the same boat as you. I thought I could stand it without the silencer on. I was actually starting to get used to it. But then something would happen, like a bad day at work, and it was too loud again.
With the silencer, it's very streetable. My only gripe with the TypeOne, silencer equiped, is when I cruised at ~85mph and then I let off the throttle. It got pretty loud during those times also. Ok, another gripe was when I saw how much power I was losing with the silencer on...
But hey, enough about me.
Congrats on finally getting everything.

Did you lose a lot of power with the silencer in? Feel any slower? Anyone have Dynos of silencer vs. open? Looks sweet!

CPR- did you notice rattling near the axle back? Did you take off those heat shields above the "S" pipe?

..... Type 1 on a Type R.. looks really nice tho. must sound awesome[Modified by baonest, 12:17 AM 7/12/2002]
It will look alot better once the inner part of your canister turns black from all the fumes. That way the size of the actual piping sorta blends in with the canister
Thats it. I'm getting a Type One!!!
i figure this, no matter how much money i spend on this car, it's not gonna net me THAT much power. if i want power, mise well sell it and buy an e36 or something if i want serious power. keep it simple, get some nice gains for minimal money and i'm good. to each his own.
just drove it around town with the silencer in, nice deep growl below 4k. not loud at all, i'd say quieter than most aftermarket exhausts out there. quieter than the comptech. above 4k, the exhaust seems to quiet out and you can't hear it, until you let off the throttle then you get a nice burbling noise. my friend has a greddy SP on his GSR, it's a little bit quieter than that with the silencer in. i still feel gains between 3-5k rpms, but it feels lacking to redline.
very nice........i see you got the all titanium axle back and not just the titanium tip w/ ss canister as most of the others have it........very nice once again..
oh also, can you tell me if the resonator in the b-pipe sits actually higher up then stock? looks pretty well tucked in so as to not scrape when going over speed bumps...

nice, im leaning towards it over my tanabe RM, which ricers seem to like around here, although none of theirs has the sound mine has, but i would like to hear a clip of it on an itr, ive heard it on the si, thanks looks good
sorry if this is a dumb question, BUUUUTTTT....the B-Pipe is the part that goes from the cat, to the axel-back section right? SOUNDS NICE AS HELL!
thanks,

So my big question is, at 75-80mph when you're in 5th, how does it compare to stock when you have the silencer in? Every aftermarket exhaust I have had or seen and ridden in, has this annoying "drone" at 4-4500 rpm on the highway. Highway driving, that's where it really really gets on my nerves.
