I get around 25 er so city with a B16 tranny... when I keep my foot out of it. Highway, I am sure it would not be that great, since it turns so many revs on the freeway. Never really had it on long drives but my LS tranny did pretty good at over 30 mpg in the highway. I kinda miss when it was the VX running gear... was getting around 53 MPG
I THINK this from when I had the VX gear in it
2500 rpm at 70 MPH with the VS gear

I should take a pic with the B16

53mpg! thats crazy! ive never heard of a VX before. what is it exactly? i was planning on running a SI tranny with a gsr 5th. that way i would sit at like 4500 @ 80mph in 5th. what ratio is the VX 5th? what did it come in?

http://www.civichatch.com/info/index.php There is some basic info. The VX was the gas saver model. Came with Vtec and a wideband 5 wire o2 all for pimpin MPG
To give you an idea... a VX has a 3.250 final drive... where as a 2000 SI has a 4.266

Good luck.... I think there are more SIs around then VXs... and like most SI's... most have been molested.... such as mine lol. But they are desirable as they are already a Vtec car and their light curb weight. Vxs also came with a small rear defuiser.
your probobly right, odds of finding one that not messed with is slim to none. ill be fine with a d16y8 for a dd till i finish my B20vtec toy. i have a b16 tranny with a gsr 5th so hopefully on the highway mpg wont be too bad.

But I still got 36 MPG
I just went through my first tank of gas since my b20/ITR build with a b16 tranny. Most of the driving was highway at 80mph and the gas pedal definately hit the floor a few times......I averaged 29.8 miles per gallon and have been very happy
i got 21mpg on my first tank of gas with my B20, on my basemap tune. just got it tuned and made sure we did all freeway speeds (60-80mph). i just filled it up with gas, so i will post up the tuned mileage when the tank empties. also i rock an ITR tranny, so im chillin at like 4500rpms on the freeway
Stock bottom B20 w/ RS pistons.
GSR head w/ S2P2 cams, GSR IM matched to 74mm TB.
Around town driving averages approx. 28
Freeway only cruising, 34 average. Best of 36 by maintaining the speed limit.
Cruising A/F set for mid low-mid 15's
Mfactory geared tranny w/ an OEM 5th through a 4.26 final.
Haha, holy thread from the dead. Vintage 08

I know it's not what you wanted, but my build (GSR block, P30 pistons, B16 head, bolt on's, etc) I get 30-34mpg beating the **** out of it, or babying it with a B16 tranny. I do a lot of freeway cruising though.

What was the vx gear from. Also have you gone from topped out in 4th gear to 5th gear how slow does the final gear accelerate and is there any issues with doing the swap.
