FG2 Aftermarket ideas...
Hello all,
I was wondering: has anyone done an aftermarket audio install while maintaining there steering wheel controls? Like, just an amp or two, speakers all around, and sub maybe? Sorry, I don't know much about this, but any and all information is appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks.
Aftermarket companies make modules that allow you to retain your steering wheel controls with an aftermarket radio. Unfortunately the modules are expensive and difficult to install, and will often disappoint you when some of your steering wheel buttons will lose their functionality.
If you're going to keep your stock radio, then of course you can add an amp and replace the speakers. You'll need a line out converter.
Are you talking about the Si with the subwoofer? I worked on a few of those, but I don't remember much of what was involved.
I don't get the feeling that you'll be doing this yourself. Just take your car to a reputable shop and they'll set you up with what you need.
Thanks.

Cool man, I think you're right about that. I don't suppose the quality difference would be that great by jumping to an aftermarket CD/DVD anyway would it? And yes, the FG2 is the 06-08 Si. I knew that already by the way, but thanks I guess.
Cheers for the suggestions.

we rarely have problems with steering wheel interfaces at my work. n it usually runs about $125 installed for them so I dont know what is considered expensive.
If you dont want to change the radio then just purchase a rockford 360.1 or 360.2
personally I think they are light years better than the JL clean sweep.
check out rockfords web site then find a rockford dealer in your area than can give you all the details on them.
