Default Need help after new swap!!!!!

I just finished installing my b-series in my 97 coupe this last weekend. I need help on figuring out whats wrong. FYI I am running Obd1 ecu with a obd2a-obd1 converion harness. I used my old dx harness but had it wired for v-tec and sensors needed. My car starts up fine but the speedometer wont work and I could of sworn that it worked the night we finished the swap. The tach, gas and heat gauges work fine. Also all the lights flash(head lights, dome lights, dash lights, check engine light) I also see a jump in the tachometer it idles and then drops below, as if it there where lossing power. The car runs fine with the exception of the lights flickering, no speedometer, and the idleing problem. I thought that it was the alternator so I replaced it with another one but I'm still having the same problem. Any one with experience or suggestions???? Any helpful suggestions are appriciated!!!!

what year is the motor out of? is it an obd1 motor swap? if so, you probably did what i did when i first did my swap...i had the Crank position sensor plug confused with the vss plug...they both look the same...switch those two around and see if that is the problem, most likely will be....just double check your clips...lmk

Thanks for the suggestion. My engine is a 2001 obd2. If its obd2 would the vss and the crank positioning sensor plug still look the same?? How would I know which one is meant for which??

Might be grounding issues.

thanks I was thinking the same thing. But the Speedometer not working and bad Idleing also seriously makes me consider checking the vss and crank positioning plugs. But I think I'm also going to get a grounding kit because even if that's the problem or not it will help overall.

Try checking your VSS for the speedo problem.

x2 my car acted similar when I had a loose ground, actually it looked good, but the wire pulled out of the connector so it passed a visual inspection. I spent 3 months of hell in denial that it was a ground issue and 5 minutes fixing it when i finally took them all off and reinstalled them

i noticed you said you have a 0bd2a-obd1 harness, and that your motor is from a 2001 teg, making it obd2b, that might have something to do with your problems

Check your water jacket ground, that one F'ed me over for a few days...Whoops. Check your VSS and CKP wiring too. Agree with elektronsi, make sure you have the right conversion adapter.
