ek hatch question
does it have a gas light? i slapped in a ex cluster and it has a gas light spot but it never comes up... so i was wondering if its wiring or my hatch doesnt trigger the gas light on the ex cluster or burnt out bulb? dont wanna open it up if it doesnt light up =p
not to thread jack or anything....
Do the Eg's have gas lights? I swapped in a ex/si cluster into my hatch.
I suppose i never let my gas get that low to where a gas light would come on though, but ive always pondered that question.

see this is the weird thing. i've had a 96 cx hatch and a 97 cx hatch and U KNOW WHAT I HAVE NEVER EVER HAD THE GAS LIGHT COME ON.
i've used stock clusters.....then i upgraded to SI CLUSTERS.....and now i'm rocking an ex cluster.....and still no gas light. and i'm too afraid to keep driving either at E or below E ...i dont' want to get stuck. hahaha

i have a cx lol and i never see the gas light come on my ex cluster and i've had it dippen below red and sputtering lol..... so do the dx's come up and cx's dont?? if so is it just a metering thing and is that worth looking into??
I'd prob say its more of a problem on the EK - I live in UK and i have had 2 ek hatches - diff trims/chassis too
an EJ9 and EK4 VTi - and none of them the fuel light worked at all - i've even went under the E and still no light.
My mate also has an EK4 but his Fuel light works but it kind of just flashes on then goes out!

My theory is the CX doesn't have them and the DX does. Though this might change in later years.

You might have a burnt out bulb. If not, perhaps the meter unit is not functioning fully.
How much is petrol over there, btw? It's around $3.47 a gallon over here right now. I know ours is cheaper here, but our prices have begun to jump up again. Have yours?

It's not the cluster.
My theory is in the CX, no matter what cluster you put in it, you WILL NOT have a gas warning light.
In the DX you will.
The plugs are all basically the same on the back for all the different clusters. There is no reason all Si clusters would work in a car but all EX clusters wouldn't.

nope, i was told somewhere in the internet world, maybe clubek.net once that our hatches do not have the NO GAS LIGHT...i know i don't, i have a 98 civic dx hatch...never came on, never will and i doubt it'll ever will...so no need to worry...just make sure your gas gauge works and that you have plenty of gas in the tank to get places...

Someone online saying it is hardly proof though. Much less your car or a few other cars not showing them. Lots of cars have a bad bulb in the cluster.

If certain CXes have a low fuel light and others don't, I'd bet it would change in 1998 or 1999, when most of he other changes happened.
It looks like they all have the low fuel indicator light bulb though. So I don't know why they would have different meter or sending units. I know some do though (for example, my boyfriend's '97 CX has no fuel pressure sensor and occasionally throws a code for it with his swap).
