I don't understand why you'd want to paint the hood?
For someone that complains about function over form, why would you want to waste so much money painting something that isn't meant to be painted?
Ever look at a cf hood? Ever notice that they are a little wavy compared to an oem hood? Why would you want to exentuate something like that?

I think that there is a difference between a factory carbon fiber panel and that of an aftermarket unit. At that point in time, it does make sense to get the whole thing painted seeing as they are doing the rest of the car at the same time. I'm sure that the construction of the panels are far better than that of any aftermarket hood also.
