RSX shakedown 10.12 and 155 mph !
We went to San Antonio over the weekend for Midnight Madness. Unfortunately I redlit during the final round and ran a 10.4 @ 155 against a much slower car. Noobie mistake on my part.
On the positive side of things, it was my first time out with the new setup and I must say it was quite a rush. The first time I pulled the chute, nothing happened and I had to slam on the brakes after the first turn off. Luckily, the stock Type S brakes still work like a champ at 148 mph. That was the first pass...10.2 @ 148.
I got back to the pits and fixed the snagged chute cable and overtightened chute handle, struggled with repacking the chute, adjusted tire pressure (almost got sideways), splash of fuel...and get back in the lanes.
Eliinations were hotlapped...crazy especially having to pack a Deist chute. I couldn't have done it without the team of people that busted *** to get me to the lines. I learned that it takes a big effort from everyone to make this a reality, and I'm so grateful to have the friends I do.
Second run was first round eliminations...I honestly can't remember who or what it was against, but I ran my best time to date with a
10.1 @ 151 mph.
First time to use the chute...that is a cool feeling.
Back in the pits, while trying to cool the car down, a bunch of people struggling with the chute, charging system starts taking a dump. We hook the car up to the truck while Jason pulls the datalog and tweaks on the tune. Everybody's scrambling, but we make it to the lanes for 2nd round against Cindy in the pink DSM (don't know her last name).
She redlights and I go 10.2 @ 151.
This time, we're really in a hurry. Car's on jumper cables, chute's almost in, then the stupid string breaks!!. Luckily, Angel Padilla comes to my rescue AGAIN...THANKS BRO!!!...brings over his extra chute string, and we get everything buttoned back together for finals against the defending Import Warrior champion Neil Pack in his civic hatch.
Coming up to the line, I'm nervous, but focused on the prize. Chuck get's me set for the burnout, sweet burnout, Jarrod lines me up perfect in the groove, Neil prestages, I prestage, he bumps in, I get on the e-brake and hit the anti-lag...start slipping the clutch...bumping in...then...I REDLIGHT!! DOH!!
BUT...
I run my best mph....10.4 @ 155
I'm overall very happy with the results. Thanks to everybody that pitched in and helped. I couldn't have done any of it without you guys. Jason, Shami, Dan, Chuck, Cori, Stan, Aaron, Phil, Jarrod, Mike, Kim, Tony, Onix, Paul, Nick, John, Branden...hopefully I didn't miss anybody. Everything seems to work better with friends.
Faster times coming soon...see you at IFO!

Sounds like a good way to start the season!! Any pics?
What's your setup if you don't mind me asking? Is it a SFWD type RSX or ProFWD car?

Here are a few pics..

Everything is still messy. we will be cleaning everything up when we have time. we built the car in about 2 months, cage and all, and only working on the car after hours. The car is on 24.5 x 8.5 x 15 slicks and weighs 2680 with driver.

Nice write up Chang
I had a blast, the in between round thrash was wicked! I think we are the only 3 car team racing the same class....John force Style FTW...We should still be on for leaving that Fri. for Louisiana. 10.20 on your first hit congrats! Thanks to St00pid, Shami, Stan, Aaron, Dan, Cori, Kim and Justin from Comp Turbo.

Thanks for all the kind words everybody! Hopefully 3 more TX cars will be in the 9's by the end of this month.
Aaron and Chuck...these two are my inspiration. It amazes me how dedicated these two guys are. The 10.07 duo from San Antonio soon to be part of the 9 second trio at Midnight Madness!!
Stan...quit making excuses and bring the car out already.
