Default Official "Where Did You Get Your Motor" Thread

This is an open poll. If you add a name please SPELL correctly.

if you make a post, only post in reference to the topic and give your insight to others ONLY if you have REAL/ACTUAL experience with the company. I do not want to hear "my buddy says" crap. You will be DOCKED POINTS.

Bought my first motor about 2 years ago from Hmotors. Steve's customer service was great, I emailed him about a possible order, and he called me first thing in the morning. Suggested I save a little bit of cash by getting it delivered to my job, which I did. Shipping was fast, and the motor was in great condition. Great experience overall.

bought my h22a from steve about 3-4 years ago. I received my motor less than a week later in perfect condition. He holds his reputation for a reason.

approx 60-70k on the motor when i pulled it out and roughly a year of 8500 RPM days.

mains:

this is the only main which showed wear which is pretty understandable being that it is closest to the flywheel and takes the brunt of the force

example of the rod bearings:

kinda dirty but oh well.

Japanese Import Engines
SPruce Ave Patterson NJ.

Not too happy with this company. In future wont be returing.

They delivered the motor to me on back of pick-up truck. Motor looked like hell. Replaced basic stuff before install. Had a few issues with faulty parts. Tried to contact seller about replacement parts.First response was sure, ill look them up for you. No word, contacted BBB, where the seller denined ever selling to me. Wrote nasty letter, posted a few buyer beware threads on various boards across the net. Stopped caring about it after that really.

I bought my BB2 from a guy in Jacksonville FLA about 3 years ago. I think he bought his H22A from HMO. There is a stamp on my block next to the block code that says HMO, would that be correct? 3 years of shear abuse and continues to run very strong.

got my H22a From Hmotors about a year ago. It came very nicely shipped. You can definitely tell they actually give a **** about their products.. Took off oil pan and valve cover to my amazement the inside looks immaculate everything was still an amber clean oil look. Im very happy well worth the money ..

Steve deffinetely deserves a good reputation...I bought a B18B from him in may of 07' and when I took the intake manifold off the runners and tops of the valves were still shiney like new...Im guessing the motor might have had 10k on it and ran perfect . I have bought alot of jdm parts from him as well and they were always in great shape too.

Got my engine from hmotors just a couple of weeks ago. Had to wait about a month though because the lsd tranny option was backordered, but i guess that's the price you pay when you order the day after christmas... =\
All in all great experience, Steve is professional, courteous, and very accommodating. He is even sending a part to me for FREE tomorrow that didn't come with the specific package i ordered... a $150 part from the dealer!!
Shipping was fast and the motor came nicely packaged.. have yet to put the motor in but based on other people's experience i'm not worried about it at all.

I've bought 3 motors from Steve at HMotors. All seemless transactions and got my motors in a few days. I have also ordered a B16 from another seller and that transaction was a nightmare. Luckily they are now out of business.

for steve

I bought my F20a from the Engine Depot in Kearney, NJ. They were nice enough guys, very helpful when I was picking it up.

When I went to put the cam gear and stuff on it, I noticed that there was a huge flat spot on the timing belt. So I took it to a shop in town and they said that there were bent valves in the head.

I emailed pics of the timing belt and what the shop had said to the Engine depot and by the time I had gotten a response the engine was fixed. They had wanted me to bring it in to them. I was in NC at the time and that was not happening and I was also not shipping it back to them.

So $500 for the motor and another $600 getting the valves fixed and timing belt and water pump changed and misc parts installed.

Japan Direct Motorsports

Raleigh, NC

usedengine.com

I support them, they've sold tons of engines for years and years, and always have a good product.

My roommate's dad, Al, is an owner, and will take care of anyone who calls and gives the Gags name.

I, birdman, my brother, many of my friends, all of us have driven japan direct engines for a long time and all have been happy.

Eric Japan Engine Incorporated

Chicago, IL 60618

I have bought 2 JDM H22's from them with NO ISSUE whatsoever.($1100+8.75% tax+$25 delivery)
I have sourced another 8-10 motors through them for other people and have yet to hear about any issues.(Anything from JDM D15B-JDM H22A) Right now, these motors from EJE are scattered from the MidWest to the East Coast. I was able to go there and pick from as many as 10 JDM H22As and they delivered them about 20 miles for $25. Mr Lin is very tough to talk to on the phone, but when you can go there and talk he's there to help. English isn't his 1st language and he owns the busiest Import Engine Warehouse in Chicago.
Thrilled with EJE

Got my engine from Japanese Import Engines in Paterson. In fact I recommended it to Acidcracker. Unlike him I drove there and hand picked mine. Looked perfect to me. And with all due respect to acid cracker the contract when you bought the engine came with a complete list of everything that should be replaced before installing. If he paid attention to this or not I don't know. Anyway motor dropped in perfectly fine, mechanic even said it was an immaculate engine. Engine runs hard and strong and actually doesn't even burn a drop of oil.

I just purchased an h22a for my '93 Prelude Si, from tigerjapanese.com.

Motor will be here Thursday, but I'd figure I'd post my experience with them so far...and maybe get some feedback from other members about them.

The initial order was a bit choppy, their website seems to have all sorts of problems from not letting me order to not charging me shipping(which put a 1 day delay on shipping). Mike Yuenos(sp?) was very helpful and quick to get everything corrected for me over the phone...their service department is quick to send you e-mail notifications of the entire process, and even sent me a tracking number. So far it's been a very good experience with them.

I can only hope the motor looks and runs as good as the others I've seen people order from them. Will post a picture and inspection summary when it gets here.
