Default correct order for bleed?

I'm doing my brake fluid flush today and after doing a search I found several different orders in which to do the brake bleeding. What should it be for a 2000 ITR?

thanks guys

I do:

1. Driver front
2. Passenger front
3. Passenger rear
4. Driver rear

Anyone who's done this frequently though will relay that the order really doesn't matter. At least that's been my experience

you're the second person to tell me to start at the front. i wonder why i've always read to start furthest from the MC...

why does the order matter anyway? (i've already got the back end jacked up, heh)

can anyone comment as to why this is different than a CRX and totally different than convention of bleeding the furthest calipers first?

Its logical that you start from the furthest out since its got te most travel and most volume. However, helms says RR, LF, LR, RF for CRX, which makes sense when you realize RR and LF are on the same proportioning valve (LR and RF are on the other valve).

Yeah I do the right rear, left rear, front right and finally front left. I know I've heard that you should start in the back but as to why I don't know??

hmmmm, well poop on you all.
so why would Helms for the DC2 say front left, and then go clockwise? That's what I did, before I saw all these new posts....

oh well - ANYWAY, I just got done flushing it with 2 bottles of Motul 600. I took it for a short spin, and my mushy/un-respsonsive brakes are back to about 90%. I wouldn't say they are back to 100% bite like when I first put on the Hawk HP Plus pads 2 weeks ago, but that's maybe because the pads are still a little glazed (or whatever it's called) from the track last weekend? The important thing is they bite hard again and the stopping distance has been shortened, close to how it was before the hour on the track. Regardless, I'm very happy!

There were a lot of air bubbles that came out from the rear and front calipers, but mostly from the rear. Maybe that's a result from the order I did it in? I dunno. Anyhow, I'm pretty happy, next time I'll get some speed bleeders though.

thanks *again* HT!

All modern brakes are set up with a dual diagonal connection for safety, half the master serves LF/RR, half RF/LR, so not all fluid is lost in the event of a line rupture, etc. and to maintain some braking in a controlled manner. Traditional thought has been RR/LF/LR/RF, longest line first then its partner. Honda has the opposite, shortest line first for some reason. Personally I don't think it really matters.
