This post is about good memories...I can still remember to this day the first time I saw an 86 Mugen Civic Si, Red w/ white decals, wheels and the entire Mugen catalog installed from a local-to-me dealer that was actively marketing the Mugen experience. I bought a new black 87 Si a few months later and started saving pennies and buying what I could. I got the VW bug in 89 and sold off a lot of what I had...We had several fully built Mugen CRXs locally, but a pair of Civics, an S and an Si, that made me drool the most.

Over the years, I have kept my eyes open, searching for another Si. My search for the right car has ultimately forced me to realize that the right EA-T for me is probably not out there. I have held onto my old Mugen parts for 15+ years in hopes of finding either my old 87 Si or a have to have 86/87 that would be the right starting point. I have grown frustrated and am considering throwing in the towel...call it my new year's resolution...

Collectively speaking, what is the value of some of these items, all new, never used, in original boxes in most cases...(all of the Gen1 CRX body parts were sold years ago to King, so don't ask, I don't have...)

I don't WANT to sell this stuff, but it does me no good holding onto it if I can't find a decent car to restore and make the mugen poster child car...

This is not a for sale or offer post, I am simply trying to determine if holding this stuff for 15+ years has been worth my investment originally. If it does go for sale, I will more than likely sell it as a single lot, but that decision is going to take me some serious soul searching and time.

Thanks for constructive comments/valuations in advance. 86si, I blame you, as you've set the baseline that I don't think can be hit any longer.

What you have is either "just a box of parts for an old car" or "discovered treasure" depending on who you talk to. If you decide to sell these, you would do well to post it there.

 

I am trying to keep this low-key for now, primarily gauging what the worth of this stuff may be.

I've had a ton of PMs, but I am not ready to sell off and there are no plans to separate stuff out if I do eventually decide to sell. If the right car was available, I would not be in this position.

Still looking for the "right" car? Come out to California dude, minty fresh 1st Gens are a dime a dozen out here.

As for your parts, the header (D15 or D16?) is interesting but it is possible to turn up a DC Sport header on eBay for about $100. A Mugen test pipe? The guy at the corner muffler shop can whip up one for about $30.

All the other stuff is just cosmetic.

The Holy Grail of 1st Gen CRX parts made by Mugen is the LSD. I bought one, new in the box, from a guy who wanted out of the car hobby for $500 about six years ago.

Yea, pictures would be nice if you really have the parts. There are plenty of '86-87 Civic/CRX SI out there or maybe you just don't have the time....

Tyson is selling his wheels and he is not afraid to show his wheels off. I hope everything works out for us cause I'm waiting to buy his wheels....

 

This didn't go the way I expected, so I'll take the welcoming I've received and leave.

It is kind of funny, how when someone doesn't post pics, because they have a life, you thrash them to the extent you are. No big deal, I know what I have, and I bet the consensus is the corner muffler shop does the kind of work Mugen did back in 86 and you can easily find NOS parts that were made 20+ years ago from Mugen just laying around. Your opinion, get whatever mileage you need to out of it.

If pics would make you realize what I do or don't have, I'll just keep the pics to myself and you can find someone else to nag. I'll save these parts for the real enthusiasts I've met over the years during Solo2, Showroom Stock and SpecMiata that will take my calls when I offer them the parts for their Gen1 drivers.

god, cry. This is an internet forum, and honda-tech at that. If you cant take any abuse then you probably dont belong. Yay you have a bunch of cool old parts. That doesnt do us any good unless we can SEE them on or off a car, or have the opportunity to buy them. Why should we care when you just pop up and say "hey ive got all these cool parts and they arent for sale and i wont show pics."

If you as a collective group believe someone is full of **** because they don't post pics, well, that is your issue and not mine. I'm the one with these parts and I'll ignore all the pleas via PMs that were from "die-hard" owners that now want to bash. You don't deserve these anymore than I guess I do. I am clearly not worthy.

BTW, new in box CF-48s look really good.

I posted this thread to get constructive comments. Your comments thus far are ones that basically indicate I am a liar if I don't post pics and that these parts are of little value. Fine, if that is what the group believes, I might as well take them to the dump and let them die an easy life. Simple as that, the gods of honda-tech have spoken, my parts are worthless. I can be cool with that and consider this done. The comments have shown it, the experts have spoken.

I'll send a PM or email to the person on this list that would appear to benefit from these parts the most when and if I decide to take them to the dump, after my close friends that are local tell me they are worth nothing. Hint, it is no one that posted in this thread, so you all don't have to wait in hopes.

Your thread has no purpose, then you get called out because you wont show pics of the stuff. For sale or not. This is honda-tech and everybody gets called out even more so with a made up story like this one. Your new and people all the time claim they have all sorts of cool **** but your story of this caliber is no good without pictures. Ill give you props if you really do have the stuff but it just sounds far fetched to me so prove me wrong. Dont take it personal thats just how hond-tech goes. Wow, you guys made me question my sincerity enough to go take photos of my FIRST container of parts...want more specifics, just request them, I shot a ton more than what you see here. Whether I post them is another topic...

For some background, these parts had not been touched by my hands before they were opened and photographed tonight. When opened, I wore gloves and used plastic...all hardware is there, unopened, but hey, we're all friends, you believed me all along that this was a legit posting.



If I get motivated, I may unpack another container and take more pics, but I am not that motivated to defend myself to a group of "enthusiasts" that finger point first, based on post count and the slim probability that a post is truthful. Seems to me like you guys must converse with a lot of trolls and frauds if you want to assume someone is a fraud before you allow them to post the proof...at least I have the proof in digital format now, as opposed to visiting the containers in storage to ensure they are still sleeping.

Let the banter begin about how these are phonies, reproductions and doctored photos...I am prepared for the "wheels are not all displayed and assembled" comments that are sure to come. Sorry, one box was opened (hence the reason the center cap was already installed in one wheel), but the other 2 boxes are staying sealed. If you don't believe me now, you never will.

hey, i didn't knock ya!

the only issue with a lot of people today is that they talk a lot but never produce. it happens a lot more with the older stuff because with newer cars, everything is available. i don't think tempers should have flared the way they did, but it happens. whatever. thanks for the pics, the parts look great. i'd love that front bumper on my civic, but that's all. i've already got 14 inch CF's and i dont think the rear bumper would look right without the sideskirts too.

i know of a set of wheels, bumpers/body kits, and other assorted new in box mugen stuff. but i can't get at them or take pictures sadly. they are at a local dealer.

Goto SoCal and buy yourself a rust free 3G for pennies on the dollar. I dont think I could ever forgive myself for selling those parts off if I had them myself.

Id make you an offer if I owned a 3G, but as it is I have a 1G CRX and most of the stuff you have I wouldnt be able to use. I already have a 1G CRX mugen kit and a super clean set of MR5s.

Really nice stuff though.

 

They're worth lots of $$$$$. Wouldnt sell them unless I was getting top dollars since everything is BNIB. Even the Mugen Boxes are worth $$$$

 

LOL, anyone who pays money for an empty box is a fvcking idiot. That aside id say you prolly have 2000-3000 worth of parts. Might actually be worth more if the parts were for the EF chassis. Most of the owners of 1G/3G civic/CRXs are not willing to spend 2-3 times what they paid for the car itself.
