my swap comes in on saturday and i gotta go check it out. its supposed to be a jdm b20b so it should say just b20b w/no numbers after it right?

also, its coming with all other gsr crapola..tranny,axles,shift linkage,etc.

if anyone has a pick of a b-series tranny with showing where the stamp is it would be very helpful. the gsr tranny should be a y80 right? arent there y80 ls trannys too?

anything else i should check out to make sure what im getting? it should come with a gsr ecu, but im gonna need to get an ls one. im gonna do everything obd1 as well, so i can use my harness..so how do i tell which ls ecu i need? isnt the p75 stamp for obd1 and obd2?

you're right about the B20B, if its a J-spec block then it won't have any numbers after the last B. Tranny is kind of like up in the air, cuz i have a JDM GSR tranny and mine is stamped S80, and i've seen american GSR trannys stamped Y80 as well as LS trannys, so i don't kno about that one HTH

 

i really dont want to get jerked around. im paying for the gsr stuff so i want to make sure thats what im getting.

 

how can i tell the difference between the ls,b16a,gsr trannies? i know the gsr is only y80 so how can i tell im getting the gsr one? im going tomorrow to pick it up, so its kinda urgent. and anything else to inspect check, i wont be able to test compression though.

 

theres really no way to tell your getting a "gsr" tranny until you get it on the road
but gsr trannies normally say y-80 or s-80. my gsr tranny says y-80.

oh btw the "stamp" on mine was a sticker,think fell off after powerwashing. the newer trannies will have a rivited on serial #

above the slave cylinder slightly to the right.

 

anyone have a pick of where to look when the tranny is out of the car? so there really is no way to tell at all. poop.

You can see the LSD stamp and read S80 on the barcode thing.

 

so there is no way with any of the other numbers on the tranny to check what kind of car the y80 was from??

 

if you have the whole vin i can help you decifer what car it came from....
