im going to make a guess and say it probably did come in a del sol. since the del sol stayed with the same chassis from 95 to 96 unlike the civic, so instead of them having to produce a whole new chassis harness they probably made an OBD2 P28 that plugged into the OBD1 plugs and kept the same harness from the OBD1 cars. again, just a guess.
that's an obd2 p28 seen them before its pretty cool read on it pgmfi.org ..
