what to do about rust on new engine parts
Well being my curious self I like to touch and examine every new piece of the engine that I am building. My guess is that the oil from my fingers promoted the rust to form on my Prodrive oil gear, one of the eagle rods I have opened, and the DD clutch plate. Is there any consern I should have for this slight surface rust or how would be the best way to clean it off(wire brush?) or do I need to clean it off at all?
Probaby nothing more than minor surface rust. Try alittle WD40 and a clean cloth it will probably rub off. That is why I spray everything down with WD40, I buy it by the case. YOu could also try some fine steel wood with light pressure if it is still there.
On the pressure plate you should follow it up with some brake cleaner before installing.

You could go to the hardware store and buy a product called Naval Jelly. It removes rust like majic. I always keep parts like rods, etc. coated with WD40 or oil in a ziplock bag. I wouldn't worry too much about it, just put them in bags with oil.
