I've been looking at getting a harness for next season. I know the best way to do it would be a harness bar and proper seat, but I'd like to keep the interior stock. I've heard conflicting oppinions on mounting a harness to a stock seat, but was wondering if anyone knew for sure. I'd be taking it back to the rear seat belt mounting post, which should give me the required angle. Any thoughts? Thanks.
Are you using it for autocross? Then all you would need to do is mount the shoulder belts to the rear seat belt points (under the seat) or to the upper seat belt mount.
For the waist just mount it to the seat itself. I actually took out my seats, took off the plastic covers and used the existing bolts there (of course purchasing some longer bolts.. Some people mount to the floor bolts that hold the seat down.
If you are doing track days and anything faster than autocross you should mount the harness to a roll bar and to the floor with reinforced plates. Another words have it professionally mounted.

What are you doing with the car? For autoX you will probably be fine in the event of a rollover (very rare at that) without a cage/bar and a 5pt, not for safety but to hold you in the seat better. Mounting it on the rear seat belts is fine as again it won't be for safety and stretching won't be an issue.
For RR/big track TTs/HPDE I would run all or nothing. If you don't have a cage or a bar, use the stock belt so your head isn't crushed when you rollover and your 5pt holds you up in your seat.

Yeah it is HPDE, and fairly fast courses. I'd see 170+ or so at Mosport. Maybe I should stay away from the harness, until I sack up and cage the thing! I'd like to keep it stock, so it looks like stock belts it is. I have heard that, that If the 5 point keeps you upright, and you dont have a cage, in the event of a roll, youre in trouble. I guess that answeres it.
Thanks for the replies.

170MPH in an Integra with no cage? lol, no thanks.
Although my guess is your going by KPH, so in that case it would be a more realistic 105MPH.

LOL, yeah 170kph, probably higher than that, but not more than 180-190. No way 170 mph downhill with a tailwind being shot out of a cannon!

OK, so here's my situation, I've been lapping my 2004 RSX TypeS at Calabogie and my skinny butt has been sliding around in the leather seat. One instructor suggested a 4 point harness, but due to the afore mentioned safety concern I guess that is not a good idea. I would also like to keep my car stock. Any suggestions other than a 4 point harness to keep me in place?
... Or does a 4 point allow some dive?
Thanks,
Don
