Alex's 2000 gsr mini restoration project! Pictures!
Well, I got into a small fender bender awhile ago and finally got around to repairing it. As some of you may know, I had the car for sale @ $10,000. Well I got a ton of interest but as we all know, honda-tech is full of flakers.
Here are some pictures before the accident. For more, see this thread.

After the small accident. The car need a few things. I was out of money so I thought I would just drop the price $1500 and see if anyone would want to buy it as is. Had some interest, but finally I couldn't stand seeing my car like that anymore and decided to keep pouring money and work into it. So far I've spent close to $14k on the car, maintenance, and mods which doesn't really show up at all. My car is currently sitting at my friend's shop.
As it sits, the car needs:
-Front bumper
-Driver side fender
-Driver side corner light
-1 Wheel
Here are some pictures of the damage. It really isn't bad at all. There isn't a single scratch on the bumper support. The wheel looks all beat to hell but that's rota for you.

Currently, my friends took off the beat up rota (luckily the tire is still good), and put on my civic's spare. Here are some closeups of the damaged wheel.

I searched about 2 weeks for a Flamenco Black Pearl front end in perfect condition to match the rest of my car. I eventually gave up hope and started searching for any colored parts as long as they were in good condition. For a few days, it looked like I was going to end up with a hybrid black/green/silver car but finally I found someone selling parts from his 1998 Flamenco Black Pearl integra. I called and set up a time to pick up the parts.
I was going to pay $190 for the front bumper and driver side fender but when I get there, the guy throws in the other fender and corner lights for free (though they are smoked)!
My goal is to have the car done/ready for the jhpusa bbq meet. May sound easy but I have class everyday and am pretty busy.
So anyways, I managed to fit everything into my 2001 honda civic coupe.
I couldn't wait for the next day since I am extremely **** about my car's paint condition, so at 12 am, I decided to clean up the front bumper and driver side fender since they were in pretty disgusting shape. They had been sitting outside for many months since the guy changed to a jdm front end.
There was bird **** all over it and I discovered a scrape in the fender.
It also looks as if the front bumper was repainted since there are a bunch of runs in the paint, abnormal amount of orange peel, and the emblem holes are gone. Nonetheless, the bottom areas had a good amount of oxidation.

I figured I'd just give them a quick hand polish (can't use the porter cable since it's late at night and don't want to **** off the neighbors), and repaint it down the road.
I'm pretty decent at detailing but most of the products I have require machine application. So, I broke out the good old Meguiar's Scratch X. I haven't used this thing in months!
So, I began by lightly buffing a small area to see if it made a difference. I was very surprised to see how great it looked! In total, I spent about 1 1/2 hours cleaning/polishing/waxing the bumper and one fender. Once I start working, the time just flies. One really major annoyance is that when you detail a piece off the car, it moves around a lot. Just really annoying to me.
Anyways, here are a couple of half/half shots and then the rest are finals. Apologies for some blurriness. Point and shoot cameras aren't that great with low light.

Tomorrow, between classes, I will be taking off the old parts and putting the new ones on. Also need to purchase some factory paint cans from http://www.paintscratch.com because I plan on sanding down and filling the scrape on the front fender and a small part of the rear bumper. Has anyone successfully repainted a small area of a body part and gotten it to match up with the rest? I'm not going to be repainting the entire rear bumper since most of it is mint.
Since I am going to be doing some bodywork, I'm considering shaving the license plate holes. Probably will be painting the oem sideskirts as well as this other part I have.
I also had a wheel all paid for and ready but JLBmotorsports had to refund because they were out of stock. I contacted at least 5 other places and pm'ed the other sponsors selling slipstreams, but it turns out Rota themselves are completely out of my color/size/pattern, and have been for over 6 months.
Once they are back in stock, I will be placing my order and when the rim gets mounted/balance, I'm going to slam the whole ride.
Have 4 full days to get the car ready for jhp!
Now the major pain is finding a rim.
Btw, here is the part that is going to be painted and mounted
. Please don't ask any questions about it.
If budget allows, I will be purchasing a lip too.
Stay tuned for further progress.

Get that Escort pimped!!!
LOL... Looking good so far. Are you going to get it repainted in the near future?
You gonna just buy another rim? or get a different set?

lol i hate that damn escort. it's like the family's extra car that nobody ever drives. funny thing is that it's got just as much torque as my gsr.
i am probably not going to be repainting it since i want to sell the car.
i gave up on waiting for a white slipstream so i'm just going to buy a black, bronze, or whatever color is available and repaint it white.
