i put together a mini me and it started to overheat, when i went to pull the head back off the upper 3 in the middle (headbolts) were loose, like i can turn them just with my hands, the headbolts were used before, how many times i do not know, my question is will the headbolts come loose due to stretching? or was it another problem altogether, i'm waiting til monday when i can pick up some new ones, and i'll put some locktite this time around, i didnt last time, but didnt think it was necessary. anyone have any info?

hmm. Headbolts do stretch a little, but they should not stretch that much. I guess new bolts and loctite will probably work, but if you're really worried, get ARP bolts.

 

i cant really wait any longer on ARP bolts, its running higher compression than before, i'm just worried about it coming loose again, and will they come loose if they are stretched?

 

heat and stress warp the bolts. you are never supposed to reuse head bolts

 

Don't use locktite on your headbolts. How bad did you overheat it? The head is probably warped.
