Default Questions on Auto/Manual wiring for EG

Well I'm badly in need of some help finishing this car. It is a 1992 Civic DX and we are working on the mini-me along with a Automatic to Manual transmission swap. We got (most of) it completed, all bolted on and now we are pretty much finished except for the wiring part.

I read throughout most of the write-ups and such about connecting which wires with what but I'm a little confused. Below is a picture of that 14P plug from the automatic shifter. Sorry, took it with my cell phone..

If I'm correct, you are suppose to cut that plug off? When those write-ups say to connect those 2 big black wires together, is that it? Also, some of the colors are different.. but can anyone who has done this chime in?

I'm using a P28 manual ecu. It's not starting or anything. We kind of didn't mark the vacuum lines but this is more of a priority.

Colors of the wires dont mean ****, its the locations. In your pictures you need to connect:

blk/wht and red/wht, to start your car

Yellow and the green next to it to use your reverse lights.

Alright, it's actually trying to start now. Thanks for clearing that up a bit Kid, I was confused as to where I would put the 2 big wires to... when all you do is actually put them together.

I don't have a plug to put in the reverse wires yet so that might have to wait.

Also, anyone would happen to know the spark plug wire placement on a Z6 head? We got it as:

1 4 <~~with 1 being in the 11 o'clock position.
3 2

MAke sure you didnt use a black wire thats a ground, you'll fry all your wiring and need a new harness, I also heard of someone who also started a fire in his car because of it. Just go back and check your connections with everything.

SUPER THANKS to LuserKid and his write-ups, along with everyone else's.

Well we got the joker running (very crappy-like, most likely due to the crazy vacuum lines.) The weird thing is that there was a plug for the reverse light already in there. Pft, I don't know why I tried to make the wiring hard even though it was super easy...

Now I got to wire in VTEC. If I'm correct, ALL 1992 models came pre-wired for VTEC from the ecu to the shock tower. Does that still mean I got to run a lines from the VTEC solenoid to the ecu?

Oh yea, my shift linkage came off a CX hatch (same model.) For some reason the top linkage is rubbing with the bottom and it feels crappy shifting. As long as I'll have something running I won't complain but what do you guys think the problem may be?

EDIT: I know that since the reverse light plug was there may not mean it's really connected but it's there. I'll have to wait till morning to see what's the deal with it, even though I doubt it actually works.

There was some crazy smoke but again, might be because of the lines being all over the place. If you are talking about that solid black line on the bottom left of the pin out, NO we didn't use it.

That happens when they put the black wire thats all the way to the bottom left (which is a ground for the auto shifter lights). You shouldnt touch that one. On some theres a blk/blu wire that takes off the "D" light from there cluster, and its not in that location (i believe its the location where grn/wht is but i would have to check my notes). People dont seem to understand that if honda (and other dealers) run out of a certain wire color there not going to stop production until they get new wire, theyll replace it with what they got.

1. It means if you put a VTEC engine harness in your car its plug and play.
2. Sounds like you connected the linkage across from each other and not straight, Could be a problem shifting into gear.
3. Just because the PLUG is there, doesnt mean its wired up.

Anybody happen to have a vacuum diagram or a real good picture of the engine bay of your car (with a Z6 motor)? I'm going to look through the service manual as well...

Never mind on the vacuum diagram thing.

I'll check into that tonight and pull it apart again.

Shift linkage is fixed! Had the shifter on wrong... but now all I got to do is wire up the reverse lights, correct timing and find a way to wire up the VTEC solenoid. Thanks guys for the help!

I sincerely wish I could see the pictures u posted, because oh how I desperately need this information to get my car back on the road... It is Uber hard to understand shitty wiring jobs fulfilled by a previous owner..
.. everything I do becomes blue speaker wire.. It'll be a nightmare if this car outlived me🤣
