have you tried to get your money back? I know alot of people don't like hacking up stock wiring when they could just get a cluster that actually goes right in..
all 88's will work and some 89's will work.

you better make sure he has the right cluster 1st,,even though its an 88-89 it might now work cause honda did wierd ****..
some clusters are made by NS and some are made by ND..don't know what it stands for but I know that you'll have problems with certain gauges not working..
I'll take a pic of my 89 si cluster to show you were to look for it,most people don't ever have this problem though since theres not many ND out there
edit- cameras not working but just look on the bottom and back of your original cluster you'll see it,,on mine it says nst and ns3 which makes it an NS..

I had same problem with a cluster I bought from ebay. Description stated it would fit on any 88-91 CIVIC. Well, it would, BUT:
88-89 wiring is different than the 90-91 wiring, you have to repin. There is a description somewhere on this forum, but search is down.
The cluster I bought was from a 88-89, my civic hb is a 91 and I didn't feel like repinning so I just resold it, easy enough, they go fast. Also, the 88-89 cluster is more rectangular shaped vs the 90-91 which is more oval shaped.
If you buy a cluster from the internet, be sure to ask what year the vehicle was it came from.

Hey just so you know, the cluster I hve is marked NS and has a stamp that says NS3... if your OEM cluster has the same lettering, then the one I have will work perfectly.
Just remember that the one from the 90-91 is not going to fit the same as the 88-89... just let me know if you're interested and like I said before, well make a deal.
Thanks!

Put it on already and running pretty good but the speedo does not work. And for the middle socket what is it for? Thanks again for your help guys took us about an hour because we could not find the yellow wire to power up the cluster so I just put it directly on the fuse but everything else is fine.
