Default help itr gauge cluster isnt working

a friend of mine just bought a new itr cluster for his 01 itr. and now the cluster doesnt work. so we were guessing it came out of and older itr like 97 98. we tried using a 99 ls cluster but now luck either. the gauges keep reading the same thing that the car is overheating, which its not and that the gas tank is full, which its not. so do i need to find a 2000 - 2001 cluster?

thanks guys

If the back of your cluster looks like this, then you need to change out the green film on the back for the green film that can be removed from your friend's stock '01 DC cluster.

This cluster is 94-97 spec and you're friend's system needs the 98+ spec cluster.

Just remove all of the bulbs and screws from the back and you're good. Replacing is the reverse.

He doesnt have a cluster in the car they stole it. So i got a 99 ls one and tried just to replace it to see if that would work and the same problem happened, he was saying that same thing that you posted that we needed to change the green film on the rear but we didnt we just replaced clusters. Would the switching of the film be diff. than just changing the clusters?

i just installed a usdm ITR gauge cluster into my 01 ITR and after i was done i notice that my gas gauge went pass "F" but my main concern is in when i use my turn signals the rpm needle starts bouncin up and down as if it was hitting the rev limiter...can anyone help me out with this problem...I've search but didnt really find anything about the needle. bouncing problem! The real problem is that i cannot change the circuit board (green film) because i dont have the original cluster. It was stolen, Can i change around pins? What can i do need help asap! Thanks

Little bit more info would help.

2) does the cluster have a immobilzer icon ?

It sounds like you have a pretty major wiring issue...

Thanks guys, i got it to work. No the harness was not cut in the 01 R. I had to repin the D plug ( 13 pin) for that of a 99 and then replaced the gauges from the ITR cluster into the 99 ls cluster( or change the green film) then it worked. Thanks again to all the people for trying to help me.
