D series help.
I just recently replaced the intake manifold gasket on my friends 97' LX. He was burning a little bit of coolant and the gasket had cracked and needed replacement. After doing so and putting everything back together, I started the car and it's idle is off. It will rev to about 5,000 RPM and after about 2 seconds, it will reduce its rev to about 2,000 RPM... jump to 3,000 and then back down to 2,000. It does this repeditavly and doesn't stop.
I had to take the throttle body off to get at a few screws, so I thought the problem laid there... So I took the throttle body back off and noticed I had flipped the gasket upside down, so I put it back in correctly and put the throttle back on. Then I started the car again... same thing. I then checked all off my vaccum hoses and coolant hoses, they all seem to be connected correctly. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Also, if someone could post pictures up of what the whole throttle body setup should look like... I would appreciate that.

I checked that after looking at the throttle body. All the lines appear to be connected correctly, but I am not certain. I looked to see if I could find a picture of all the vaccum lines on a D 16 y7, but couldn't find one. If any one has a picture of the vaccum lines connected ( correctly? ) that would be helpful.

Oh dear jesus.
Y7 nightmares
Good chance that you did, the downdraft manifold is confusing if you've never taken one apart before.
Also check to make sure your plugs arent mixxed up, and that the manifold is secured down tightly.

I am not sure on the whole vaccum line setup. If anyone can take a picture of there D series downdraft manifold vaccum line set up... that would be great. the coolant shouldn't cause this problem. I think I will just remove the intake manifold again, clean everything and put it back on. Hopefully I will come across my problem. Keep the ideas comming!
