Default Great engine/bay cleaning product

I thought this would be the "more appropriate" section to post this.Picked up this product yesterday because I was bored and tired of looking at my dirty engine bay everytime I pop the hood. The one on the left is the grease remover and the one on the right is a clear coat that leaves a slight shine, making my motor look 5 years younger. Apply the grease remover, wait 10-15 mins and spray off with a hose. It works best with a power washer but I don't own one so I used a normal garden hose and the good old brush. Then wipe it clean with a rag and apply your clear coat

This is a before picture of the bay.

This is after the clean. Works great

Lol, I didn't realize that too. That reminded me of the episode Married with Children when Al took his brown Dodge to the car wash and after the wash they couldn't find it because the original color was red.

The bay is silver yeah haha. I did slpash some on the paint but I washed it off after no damage. You can take the liberty to just cover your fenders with a garbage bag.

Great Job!!!

Did you spray the engine cleaner over the entire engine bay area or bolted it off? Same question for the water hose, did you hose the entire engine or did u bolt off the pieces

Im looking to do a similar project and could use some advice. I have my doubts on actually pouring and cleaning material and running water on the entire engine to clean.

Could use all the advice i can get

thanks

You should have no problems pressure washing your engine bay. I used to use GP degreaser when I was a clean up guy at a body shop, let that sit for a minute then pressure wash it off w/o covering anything in the bay. Then when I started painting for a Subaru Dealership, I used to see the detail guys doing the same thing, only they used a degreaser specifically for engine bays, it worked really good.

Thanks for the advice. So i can leave everything in the engine in tact and basically power wash it? Dont even need to take out the battery or nothing? How long you estimate it will take, i would assume around 4 hours or so.

Can't wait to give my civic a good wash.

Yeah you should be able to leave everything in, just make sure you get the degreaser all over. I've seen people cover their distributor, but I don't think it's necessary to do so. It shouldn't take very long if you are leaving everything in the bay, just spray the degreaser on let it sit for a good minute or two, then spray it off, if you get a strong enough product you should be able to get it pretty clean in one try.

Cotton rags are just fine. You will still need a bucket with water if you don't have a garden hose. It doesn't take 4 hours to clean, it takes about 30-45mins.
