You MIGHT have dropped gears too fast? What exactly happened.

yea, seen this happen to a few rsx-s owners. downshifting the gears past the engines limit.

Goodluck with that, maybe warantee. You think or you did? Motors don't just blow holes through the side. Gotta take care of your chit. Must be the red. lol

Story sounds a bit hazy to me.. How do you not know if you dropped too many gears? Your car is gonna pop the second you downshift too many gears, not just gonna happen at a random later time, most likely.

if you think your going from 6th to 4th, but instead you hit second. 2nd is next to 4th

that sucks dude. I've done some potentially damaging shifts before but i always catch it with the clutch before it revs to the point of no return. I have hit 9k once but thats it... hope it wasnt your fault bud.

i just got back from the dealer where it was dropped off. service isnt open today so its just sitting there on the lot looking sad. i accidentally shifted from 6th to 2nd. i was supposed to be shifting from 6th to 4th for a nice little vtec thrill ride, but instead f'ed up my car. yes i was tired. but yea, downshifting that far and fast... the starter is laying in pieces next to the engine. i have pieces of it everywhere. this really ******* sucks man.

the warranty should cover it. thats what its there for right??? if not, insurance will be picking up the tab and i guess i'll be selling it shortly after because i dont really want to be paying anymore than i already am for my insurance. i dont know. i just hope it all gets worked out and i have a car again. im really wishing i didnt sell my damn hatchback last weekend!!! now i have no ride!!! shitty. anyways, thanks guys and i'll keep u posted.

oh and no camera phone pics. my phone also died last night and still wont show me any of my numbers or messages. when it rains it pours

im gonna have to tell em it was driver error. there is no good story as to why the rpms jumped so high that it blew the starter out of the block. what would u have told them?

you have a decent amount of mods....... they might get the wrong impression as to why your engine is blown.

There is nothing you can tell them unless they are retards it was driver error and it sucks but hopefully your insurance will cover because honda wont good luck.

The warranty doesn't cover driver error. The ECU will tell them exactly how many rpms it went up too.

Sometimes the dealership will do a one time goodwill if you beg/cry/sob story/come on a good day. Otherwise you're out of a car. Good luck.

my friend did the the same thing with his rsx when they first came out. he was trying to pass an 18 wheeler and went from 6th-2nd instead of 4th. acura replaced his motor and he had I/H/E

hopefully you'll be as lucky.

damn you know what? I always worry about me accidently doing that cause i downshift from 6th to 4th alot. It happened to me once actually but since im always worried about it as soon as i didn't feel a boost and i felt that tug i threw it in neutral before it could do any serious damage.

maybe ill just start going from 6th to 3rd if im not hauling *** so i avoid what you did. Cause for some reason slipping into second on accident seems wayyy more likely than slipping into 1st on accident.

That s*** sucks man hopefully Honda will hook you up!
